Lesson package 3!!

Hi guys, soooo ive been taking such a long break that i enrolled into 2A already so i gotta push out as much of these help guides for yall before i cn talk about 2A😭😭

Sooo lets just start with talking about the lessons

So for this lesson package, its focusing on plank, pylon slalom and emergency braking(my worst station) but please do read up on the handbook so uk the timings you’ll needa hit for each!! (6s or more for plank and 6s or lesser for pylon slalom)

3.01 is gonna be plank and pylon slalom

The start of this lesson my instructor got us to push our bike against the sheltered parking area facing the bike lots outside, thn try to balance the bike with the wheel against the car tire there, and it got us alot more used to balancing the bike!

To make this quick, do not look down EVER, what i did was basically gain speed to get onto the plank and clutch control and rear brake across. if you feel like falling, please just speed up and get thru, because its not worth the IF for running off the course. Another thing is to kiap the tank rlly hard to feel the bike btr if its leaning to one side. if you do start tilting a bit too much, throttle a lil and the bike will want to go straight. You should also be in first gear throughout the whole plank!! make sure to check back right before moving off as ive had people cut beside me while i was moving off.

and for pylon slalom, theres two diff ways to do it, first is the way i did it, get into second gear, thn release throttle to weave thru the cone thn turn before throttling again, its more of like a on off throttle and i off throttle as i am between cones and whn i am past the cone, i throttle so its a straight line to the next turn i needa make, i feel this explanation isnt that good but if u get it u get it HAHAH but for the second way, which i dont rlly like cos it slows me down q a fair bit is that you maintain throttle throughout but use ur rear brake to slow you down enough to turn, it is smoother thn the first way but i like to lean more thn to turn my handlebar if ukwim but to each their own, try both ways to get a btr feel and go with the one you prefer and is consistent at! (but dont be afraid to knock down the cones cos they cant feel pain HAHA jst needa stop and put the cones back, ive seen ppl run over the cones so its not that big of a deal)

Next is emergency braking

WHICH BTW I HATE SO MUCH (but i see why its important because ive fishtailed on the highway but managed to save myself) but jst to let yall know, this is more of practicing to brake because you are already anticipating to stop at the end and its so different on the roads cos whn i needed to ebrake, everything ive learnt just went out the window.

So moving onto the lesson, 3.02 is all about emergency braking reaching the speeds of up to 30km/hr.

first and second gear is to get u up to the speed, and gear 3 to maintain at about 30-32km/hr by taking quick glances at the speedo(make sure to make it obv because the instructors apparently wanna see u check)

upon reaching the end, LOOK STRAIGHT INFRONT(the part im having the most difficulty with), lean back without locking elbows and also kiap the tank(i use this to make sure my leg dont come out too early) close throttle whn reaching the line and apply firm but gradual pressure on both brakes. just before stopping, put ur left leg out and clutch in to avoid stalling.

If you do stall, which is alright and normal, i dont exactly rmb the procedure but if im not wrong, immediately start the bike while clutching in, signal right, check back right, right foot down and change to gear 1, check back left left foot down and right foot up, check back right and move off when safe. thn follow and merge into the main road.

my issue is always with leaning back, clutching in too early, looking straight infront(i have this thing about looking at the ground for some reason) and fishtailing cos i keep locking my wheels😔

but thats all for these two lessons, plank and pylon slalom is pretty easy to me but emergency braking is too many things to be doing at once but just make sure to not have your right foot down and also to just get through without IF because you can make it up elsewhere :>>>

... Read moreIn addition to mastering plank balancing and pylon slalom, I found practicing the motorcycle slalom course repeatedly in different settings really boosted my confidence. Riding the slalom at variable speeds and focusing on smooth throttle control helped me become more comfortable maneuvering tight turns. If you're preparing for the motorcycle theory test (RTT) in Singapore or practicing on circuits like the BBDC 2B, it’s useful to familiarize yourself with the course layout in advance. Watching videos or viewing bike photos of the course and similar bike models, like the popular purple and white motorcycles or new models, can give you a visual edge. When learning emergency braking, remember it’s as much about mental preparation as physical control—anticipate stopping, maintain focus on looking straight ahead, and practice gradual brake pressure to avoid fishtailing. Using your clutch and foot positioning correctly can prevent stalls, but if you do stall, calmly follow the restart procedure to maintain safety. For those interested in different motorcycle types, including sports bikes priced around 3 lakh, spending time understanding your specific bike's motor responses and balancing can improve your overall ride and readiness for tests. Keep practicing consistently, and don’t be afraid of knocking over cones during slalom practice—it’s part of learning. Each lesson builds your skill and confidence closer to passing your test and enjoying safe rides.
