Healing Starts With Forgiveness 🤍

Let’s talk about forgiveness… and honestly, I’m still working on that myself. 🤍

I just had a situation with people who were close to me, and even though what they did really upset me, I had to let go and forgive them. Not for them… but for my peace.

I had to realize I wasn’t hurting them by holding on, I was hurting me.

And yes, I had to repent for holding onto things way longer than I should’ve.

But the more I forgive, the lighter my heart feels.

Forgiveness isn’t about forgetting… it’s about choosing healing and trusting God with what hurt you. ✨

Forgiveness is often misunderstood as forgetting the wrongdoing or excusing the hurt caused by others, but it is so much more profound and healing than that. At its core, forgiveness is a powerful personal choice to stop carrying the burden of pain and resentment. As highlighted in Colossians 3:13, "Bear with each other and forgive one another... Forgive as the Lord forgave you," forgiveness is also a spiritual act of grace that opens the door to peace and renewed joy. Many people struggle with forgiveness because it can feel like giving up their power or condoning wrong behavior. However, forgiving someone primarily frees your own heart. Holding onto anger, bitterness, or grudges doesn’t hurt the other person—it only weighs down your emotional and spiritual health. By letting go, you make room for healing, growth, and restoration in your life. Trusting God in the process of forgiveness means acknowledging that some wounds are beyond your control to fix. When you release the hurt to God, you find strength in the assurance that He will handle it according to His perfect will. This trust alleviates the need to hold onto pain and helps you find freedom in faith. Repentance can also be part of the healing journey, especially if you find yourself holding onto resentment longer than you should. Recognizing this tendency and asking for God’s help can renew your heart and provide the grace to fully forgive. Remember, forgiveness is not an instant fix but a journey. Each time you choose to let go, you lighten your heart and experience deeper healing. It’s a brave decision to prioritize your peace and growth over remaining hurt. Ultimately, forgiveness is a gift you give to yourself—a transformative act that replaces bitterness with freedom and hurt with healing, rooted in faith and trust in God’s love and timing.
