Dtiys WIP

Hey everyone! I'm so thrilled to share a bit more about my latest DTIYS (Draw This In Your Style) WIP, which you might have seen a sneak peek of! This piece has been super fun to work on, especially trying to capture that perfect 'rawr xd' vibe with my anime girl. It’s all about creating an expressive, super cute pose that just screams adorable, right? For this character, I really focused on her hands clasped under the chin—it’s such a classic way to convey cuteness and a bit of playful shyness. When you're trying to draw poses like this, don't be afraid to look at references! I often check out different hand positions and facial expressions to make sure the emotion comes through clearly. It's not just about getting the anatomy right, but also about making the character feel alive and full of personality. One of my favorite elements in this piece is definitely the vibrant use of pink! I decided on a striking split pink and blue hair color for her, which I think adds so much character. And of course, you can’t have a kawaii aesthetic without some lovely pink, so I went with a soft, light pink background with playful cloud shapes. When I'm working on a 'wip pink' theme or incorporating bold colors, I always think about how they interact. For the hair, I played around with digital art brushes to get that smooth blend between the pink and blue, making sure each strand had a nice sheen. For the background, layering different shades of pink with a subtle texture helps prevent it from looking flat. If you’re also trying to add pops of color to your art, don't forget how much a contrasting or complementary background can make your character stand out! Working on a DTIYS is such a fantastic way to stretch your creative muscles and connect with other artists. Seeing how everyone interprets the original prompt is always inspiring. For this project, starting from a rough sketch, I gradually refined the lines, focusing on details like her bright blue eyes and the folds in her white sweater. It’s a process, and that’s why I love sharing WIPs! It’s not about perfection from the get-go, but about enjoying the journey of bringing an idea to life. Sharing your work in progress, even if it's just a 'rawr xd pose' sketch or a 'wip pink' color test, can get you valuable feedback and keep you motivated. Plus, it’s super satisfying to look back and see how much a piece evolves. I’m still tweaking some things, but I’m really happy with the overall kawaii aesthetic. Achieving that sweet, charming look involves paying attention to small details—from the delicate lines of the face to the soft glow on the hair.
