Sheep showing is an enriching experience that can teach valuable lessons in agriculture and animal husbandry. In my first year, I learned the basics of sheep care while preparing for competitive shows. My participation in events like the MN Youth Livestock Expo allowed me to connect with experienced breeders and gain insights into the sheep industry. As I advanced to my second year, I began to understand the significance of daily care, including feeding, exercising, and monitoring health to ensure muscle growth and overall well-being of the sheep. Sharing the journey with family members, like helping my brother with his project, enhanced my understanding of teamwork in livestock management. Moving into the future, I am excited about the connections I’ve built and the plans I have for my upcoming shows. I aim to showcase three sheep, including a Wether, Ewe Lamb, and a Yearling. Each year brings new learning opportunities that will prepare me for challenges in the livestock showing ring. Whether you're a beginner or looking to improve your sheep showing skills, it's a rewarding adventure with plenty of opportunities for growth in the agriculture field.
