What does God say about my true beauty?
I’ve been on this for a while now and I wanted to share with my Christian girlies. If the Bible doesn’t call me anything but the world does, I don’t want to be called that. Where in the Bible does it say to be sexy? And ik many ladies love that word but do you know what sexy actually means? Sexy: sexually attractive or exciting and similar words are seductive, desirable, and alluring. 😳 I do not want to be for everyone because everyone is surely not for me! 1 Peter 3:3-4 – “Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.”
God gives caution’s us:
Proverbs 11:22 – “Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout is a beautiful woman who shows no discretion
Overall, I want to be who God says I am everyday, in every way. It’s not about what the world calls us, no WHO does God say that I am?! 🙏🏽💕

It’s easy to get caught up in what the world screams at us – the latest trends, the perfect body, the flawless skin. But as the original post beautifully highlighted, God sees so much deeper. My own experience has shown me that true beauty isn't something you can buy or apply; it's something you cultivate from within, through a relationship with Him. So, how do we practically cultivate this 'unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit' that 1 Peter 3:3-4 talks about? For me, it starts with spending time in God's Word daily, allowing it to shape my thoughts and attitudes. When I focus on His truth, worries about my physical appearance naturally fade. I also find immense value in prayer, asking God to help me grow in patience, kindness, and humility. These are the qualities that truly shine and make a lasting impact, far beyond any temporary glow. Another powerful truth the Bible reminds us of is the fleeting nature of outward beauty. Proverbs 31:30 wisely states, 'Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.' This verse, along with Proverbs 11:22, really drives home that relying on physical attractiveness for our worth is building on shifting sand. I used to worry so much about aging or not looking a certain way, but understanding this truth has brought so much freedom. It's not that outward beauty is inherently bad, but it's secondary to the beauty of a Christ-like character. And this isn't just for Christian women! While my journey is as a woman, the principles of inner character over outward appearance are universal. God values a pure heart and righteous living in all His children, men and women alike. When we choose integrity, compassion, and faithfulness, we reflect His image in the most profound way. Ultimately, embracing God's definition of beauty means shifting our focus from external validation to internal transformation. It's about letting Him refine our hearts, trusting that His view of us is the only one that truly matters. When I wake up each morning, I try to ask myself, 'How can I reflect God's beauty today through my actions and my spirit?' It’s a daily practice, and I'm still learning, but it brings a peace and confidence that no amount of worldly 'sexy' or 'flawless' could ever provide. What a liberating truth!
