Day 2 in Virginia 🤍🦪
Today was all about oysters, bay views, and a little bit of luck. I took a 3-hour drive out to Topping, VA for a late lunch/early dinner by the water. First stop — Merroir. I sat outside right by the bay, soaking in the calm coastal breeze and peaceful views while enjoying the freshest seafood.
I ordered:
🦪 A dozen raw oysters
🔥 A dozen grilled oysters
🐟 Fresh fish
🥗 And a salad
Every bite was incredibly fresh — truly straight from the bay to the plate. Slow travel days like this remind me why I love exploring so much.
After eating, I walked right next door to Rappahannock Oyster Co. to watch the oyster boats come in. I got to see cages being unloaded, oysters sorted and processed — it’s amazing watching the journey from the water to the table and the hard work behind it.
And then, on my drive in, I spotted a sign for the Urbanna Oyster Festival happening over the next two days — and there’s no way I’m missing an oyster festival. So yes… I will be back! 🦪🎉
After exploring, I took the 3-hour drive back home feeling full, happy, and grateful for peaceful waterfront moments and spontaneous travel finds.
