Exploring Sherman Library & Gardens turned into an unexpected adventure! 🌸🐶 Coco and I had so much fun searching for all 6 colorful dog installations during Dog Days of Sherman. We completed the Circle Quest and each won a sunflower seed packet and a wildflower seed packet! Such a fun activity for dog lovers and families.

... Read moreVisiting Sherman Library & Gardens for the Dog Days event was an unexpectedly delightful experience that combined the beauty of Botanic gardens with the playful spirit of a scavenger hunt. As someone who loves both dogs and nature, I found this event an excellent way to engage with my surroundings in a more interactive manner. Walking through the picturesque gardens, the colorful giant dog installations were cleverly placed to blend into the environment, making the search both challenging and exciting. It wasn’t just about spotting art; the Circle Quest added a layer of fun by encouraging visitors to find hidden circular motifs along the way, enhancing the engagement with garden details often overlooked. What made the activity even more rewarding was the seed packet prizes—sunflower and wildflower seeds—that encourage visitors to take a piece of the garden home and grow their own blooms. This eco-friendly reward promoted a connection to nature that extends beyond the visit. From a family perspective, this event was ideal for children and adults alike. It offered a refreshing outdoor activity that combined exploration, education, and playful competition. Plus, the garden’s location in Corona del Mar makes it an accessible spot for a day trip in Orange County. For anyone visiting Newport Beach or nearby areas, including Sherman Library & Gardens in your itinerary during their seasonal events offers not only a chance to enjoy botanical beauty but also a unique interactive experience. For dog lovers who might not have a pet with them, seeing the life-sized dog sculptures provided a heartwarming nod to canine companionship. It’s a creative way to celebrate dogs in a non-traditional setting and bring joy to visitors of all ages. Overall, Dog Days of Sherman is a must-try if you appreciate art, nature, and playful experiences. It’s a great example of how cultural institutions can innovate to attract wider audiences by blending outdoor activities, wildlife homage, and community-based fun. Keep an eye out for similar themed events at Sherman Library & Gardens—each visit promises new surprises and enjoyable moments.
