The filling I used followed a simple yet tasty combination of short grain rice, vegan meat substitute, chopped onions, garlic, and fresh herbs like parsley, mint, and dill. The inclusion of chopped tomatoes adds a nice tang and moisture to the mix. What I really enjoyed was how the combination of olive oil, salt, and pepper enhanced the flavors while keeping the dish light and healthy. Rolling the grape leaves tightly was a bit tricky at first, but with some patience, it became easier. Once rolled, I cooked them slowly in a pot with a little water and lemon juice, which softened the rice and melded all the flavors beautifully. This vegan dolma not only satisfies cravings for a hearty meal but also introduces an authentic taste of Middle Eastern cuisine in a vegan-friendly way. I found serving it with a side of vegan yogurt or a fresh cucumber salad elevates the dish even more.
