Is my mom the only one that does this😭

2024/10/10 Edited to

... Read moreOkay, so my original post was super short because honestly, I was in the thick of it! But seriously, 'why are moms so annoying?' is a question I’ve asked myself more times than I can count. It feels like every mom has this secret handbook on how to do utterly random things for literally no reason at all, right? You're not alone in feeling this way! Let's talk about some classics. My mom, for example, has this uncanny ability to ask me if I've eaten five minutes after I've just told her I had a huge lunch. Or she'll call me to tell me to text her something she could have just texted me herself. It's like, a universal mom superpower to repeat things you just said, or ask you about something you already addressed! And don't even get me started on the 'tidying up' when you're clearly still using something. I left my socks on the floor for literally two minutes while I went to the bathroom, and poof! They've been "tidied away" to a place I'll never find them. It's funny because it's so true for so many of us. You probably have your own version of this, where your mom just does something random that makes you wonder if she's even in the same reality as you are. But why do they do it? I've been thinking about this a lot. Part of it, I guess, is just being a mom. They raised us, and maybe some habits are just ingrained. They want to make sure we're okay, even if their methods are a little… much. They might nag because they care, or repeat things because they genuinely forgot they just said it (hey, aging brain, maybe?). Or maybe they just have a different way of showing love and concern. Sometimes, it's their way of keeping tabs on us, even if it feels like micromanagement. Sometimes, it's a generational thing. My mom still thinks calling is the most efficient way to communicate, even if it's just to say "okay." For us, a quick text is faster and less intrusive. It's a clash of communication styles that can definitely lead to some eye-rolls! They grew up in a different era, and their habits are formed from that experience, making some of their actions seem completely random or unnecessary to us. Ultimately, even though these quirks can be annoying in the moment, they're often part of what makes our moms, well, *our moms*. It’s a funny, sometimes frustrating, but always loving relationship. It definitely gives us plenty of content for our #sillyparents hashtags. And let's be real, even when we're groaning, we secretly love them for it. Their random acts and peculiar habits are part of their charm. What about your mom? What's the most random or 'annoying' thing she does that makes you go 'Why, Mom, why?!' Share your stories below – let's prove we're all in this together! Maybe by sharing, we can start to understand (or at least laugh about) why every mom seems to have these universal quirks.

A text exchange shows the husband's hurt over his family's treatment of his wife, with a family member suggesting the wife tries too hard and needs to understand people are busy. The user notes this is her husband and his mom.
A text from a family member accuses the wife of disrespect and being 'butthurt' for not getting constant replies, while criticizing the husband for taking her side without knowing the full story.
Text messages show the user checking on her husband's sister, who then responds angrily, accusing the user of acting like a child, having opinions, and not respecting boundaries.
Does anyone else have horrible in-laws?
My in-laws treat me like crap. The 19 year old and I have been close for five years and all a sudden she is too busy now. And says she does not have to explain anything to me. She has always messaged me for advice and help and just to talk. So when I message her to check on her she will leave me

My Mom Hates Me (or at least, that’s how it feels)
She didn’t congratulate me on my wedding. She pretends she doesn’t see my posts, but I know she does. And honestly this is normal in my family. For generations, the women have had broken relationships with their daughters. Whether it’s insecurity, jealousy, or a mix of both, it’s a cycle I’ve seen

Hear me out… out of all the stages in our menstrual cycle ovulation is the one where we not only feel the sexiest, but look the sexiest. Our bodies are the strongest, our hair falls the best, our skin looks the best, and this is all a biological way of us attracting a man for reproduction. Ovul
