As you can see in the last photo my 19th didn’t go as planned there’s always things you don’t see there’s always a behind the scenes but the beginning was great 😊 anyways slay
... Read moreOkay, so let's get real about my 19th birthday. The original post touches on it, but there's definitely more to the story than just the amazing churros! Finding Honchos – The House of Churros was absolutely the highlight, a solid 5/5. Honestly, those "YUMMY CHURROS HONCHOS" from what I believe is their Alamo Heights location (or maybe I visited one nearby!) truly saved the day. I mean, crispy, warm, perfectly spiced – they were exactly what I needed. If you're ever looking for a sweet escape, seriously check them out. They were the perfect pick-me-up.
But, as I hinted, my 19th birthday had its moments, and not all of them were Instagram-perfect. You know how it is – you plan for this big milestone, imagine the perfect "nasty 19 birthday cake" or the ideal outfit, and then life throws a curveball. My day started with a few hiccups that definitely put a damper on things. It wasn't 'nasty' in a super dramatic way, but more like a series of small disappointments that just accumulated. Think miscommunications, unexpected delays, and just general chaos that made me feel like, "Is this really how I'm starting my last year as a teen?!" It truly highlighted that famous saying, "SO BASICALLY DON'T BE DECEIVED IT MIGHT LOOK PERFECT BUT THERE'S ALWAYS BEHIND THE SCENES."
For example, I had this whole vision for my "nasty 19 birthday cake ideas." I was picturing something really unique, maybe a custom design that reflected my personality, or even a fun, slightly edgy cake. But due to some last-minute issues, the cake didn't turn out as planned. It was edible, sure, but it just wasn't the showstopper I’d dreamed of. It was one of those moments where you just sigh and try to smile through it. It made me think about all the amazing "nasty 19 birthday cake ideas" out there that are so much fun to explore, from gothic themes to subtly spooky designs, or even just cakes with a funny, self-deprecating message. Mine was just... plain.
And don't even get me started on the "nasty 19 birthday outfits" situation! I had an ensemble planned, something that made me feel like a total "DIVA time" queen, but a last-minute wardrobe malfunction meant I had to scramble for an alternative. It wasn't terrible, but it definitely wasn't the outfit I envisioned for my special day. It just goes to show how much pressure we put on ourselves for these big occasions to be flawless.
So, while those "YUMMY CHURROS HONCHOS" were a definite win and brought some much-needed joy, the overall experience was a mixed bag. It taught me that sometimes, even on your birthday, things don't go perfectly. But it's okay! It's about finding those small moments of happiness, like a perfectly fried churro, and embracing the reality that every celebration has its 'behind the scenes.' It makes for a much more authentic story, don’t you think? And honestly, it still ended with a "OKAY PURRRRR Period" vibe because I chose to focus on the good parts, even if they were few and far between at first.
