What happens when you mix two conservatives?
Me + my 3 siblings decided we weren’t gonna blindly follow what our parents taught us and learned to be empathetic, kind, and brave enough to make the change.
Their hate will end with us.
Growing up in a conservative household often means inheriting a set of strong beliefs and values, sometimes rigid and unyielding. However, my experience—as someone raised by two very conservative parents alongside my three siblings—taught me that it’s possible to carve out your own path while respecting your background. We made a conscious decision not to just accept the views we were taught blindly. Instead, we sought to understand different perspectives and cultivate empathy. This wasn’t always easy; questioning long-held family beliefs required bravery and open conversations, often met with resistance. But over time, this approach helped us develop kindness and a deeper understanding of the world around us. One powerful realization was that change often starts at home. By refusing to perpetuate hate or intolerance, we paved the way for a more inclusive and compassionate environment—not just for ourselves but for future generations. Being brave enough to stand up and say, "Their hate will end with us," became our family motto. This experience also showed me how critical it is to foster empathy in children regardless of political or ideological backgrounds. Empathy encourages connection and breaks down barriers, ultimately leading to more positive social interactions and a healthier community. In sharing this, I hope to inspire others who may feel bound by their upbringing that it is possible to grow beyond inherited views and contribute to social progress. The power lies within each of us to choose kindness and courage and to create change that breaks cycles of negativity and hate.

I commend you and your siblings, i’m sure it was difficult going against your parents views but I am proud of u
