Things I LOVE and HATE in books!

Books have a unique power to transport us, but the elements within them can deeply influence our reading experience. From my personal journey as an avid reader, I've realized how crucial representation is in broadening our perspectives. Diverse characters don't just add flavor to stories—they offer readers the chance to see themselves and others in nuanced ways. When books showcase varied backgrounds, cultures, and identities, it enriches the narrative and fosters empathy. On the flip side, romanticizing problematic relationships, particularly those with significant age gaps or abusive dynamics, can feel unsettling and unrealistic. It's important for literature to reflect reality without sugarcoating serious issues like exploitation or unhealthy power dynamics. Such portrayal ensures readers are informed and can critically engage with the content. Also, love triangles can sometimes feel overused or forced, distracting from the story’s core. While they can add tension, too many love triangles might dilute character development and plot depth. In sum, the best reading experience for me combines authentic representation, honest storytelling about real-world issues, and nuanced relationships. When books succeed in these aspects, they don’t just entertain—they enlighten and empower readers. This balance has shaped the books I cherish and my expectations for future reads.
