My casual work outfit 🌤️
Today’s outfit is work inspired since that’s where I was heading today. As someone who lives in downtown Chicago, having layers is necessary. You never know when the Chicago weather will shift. Another important thing to keep in mind is comfy shoes. I take public transit and have a bit of walking to do so comfortable shoes are something I always wear. I tried to stick to a more brown pallet today. What do you think?

Living in downtown Chicago certainly means being prepared for sudden weather changes, especially when heading to work. From my experience, layering is an absolute must. You'll want versatile pieces like light sweaters, blazers, or a fashionable jacket that can be easily removed or added depending on the temperature shifts throughout the day. One thing I’ve realized is that investing in comfortable shoes is a game-changer, especially if you're relying on public transit and walking a lot. Sneakers or low-heeled boots in neutral or brown shades can complement a variety of outfits while ensuring your feet don’t tire quickly. Plus, sticking to a brown color palette not only looks chic but also adds warmth to your overall look. A casual work outfit doesn’t have to sacrifice style for comfort. Pairing tailored pants with a cozy knit top layered under a trench or coat offers both professionalism and ease. Accessories like a structured bag and minimal jewelry can polish your outfit without feeling overdone. Personally, mixing textures—like soft wool or cotton with leather accessories—creates a nice balance that’s both functional and fashionable. Considering Chicago’s unpredictable weather, it’s also helpful to carry an umbrella or a compact hat just in case. Planning your outfit around these practical details makes commuting smoother and keeps your look intact despite the city’s climate swings. Overall, my casual work outfit approach combines practicality with a personal style twist by focusing on layering, comfy footwear, and earthy colors. It’s a simple formula that works remarkably well for an urban lifestyle focused on both aesthetics and comfort.
