Charcuterie Gingerbread House

This charcuterie gingerbread house was a hit at our office Christmas party!

Thankfully I didn’t have to invest in all the ingredients due to a generous gift basket sent my way filled with crackers, pickles, spreadable cheese & meats, but I did add on some of my favorites like cheese cubes and hummus!

There’s no right or wrong way to do it, but I hot glued my house to a pan covered in tinfoil (this made for easy cleanup) and put some of the dips on the board and some to the side!

I used spreadable goat cheese and cream cheese to get the windows & roof crackers to stick! It worked like a charm AND stayed put throughout careful transportation!!

Would you wanna try this??

... Read moreThinking about stepping up your holiday party game this year? Forget the traditional sweet gingerbread house and dive into the delicious world of a savory charcuterie gingerbread house! I recently made one for a gathering, and it was an absolute showstopper, sparking so many conversations and happy munching. It's not just a treat for the eyes; it’s a delightful centerpiece that caters to all those savory cravings at your holiday family gatherings or any house party activities. Crafting Your Savory Edifice: A How-To Guide The beauty of a charcuterie gingerbread house is that there’s no single right way to build it, making it perfect for creative expression. I found that starting with a sturdy base is key – like the original article suggests, a foil-covered pan works wonders for easy cleanup and transport. For the structure itself, think outside the box beyond just graham crackers. You'll want to use sturdy crackers, pretzels, or even thinly sliced breadsticks as your 'building blocks.' Experiment with different shapes and sizes to add architectural interest! For the 'mortar' that holds everything together, soft, spreadable cheeses are your best friend. Cream cheese and goat cheese work like a charm, just as I discovered myself for the windows and roof. You can also use hummus or a thick, savory dip. These not only provide adhesion but also add to the deliciousness. Don't be afraid to use a toothpick or two for extra stability during construction, especially if you're planning on moving your masterpiece! Filling Your Festive Charcuterie Board House with Savory Delights Now for the fun part: filling your festive charcuterie board house with an array of savory treats! This is where you can truly customize it to your taste and your guests' preferences. The OCR mentions a fantastic array of items like 'crackers and meats, surrounded by various cheeses, crackers, olives, pickles, salami, and dips.' These are excellent starting points. Meats: Think beyond just sliced deli meat. Roll up thin slices of salami, prosciutto, or pepperoni for elegant presentation. Create little 'trees' with folded slices of dried sausage or ham. These 'meat gingerbread house' ideas are always a hit. Cheeses: Offer a variety of 'various cheeses.' Cubes of cheddar, provolone, or Swiss are easy to grab. Soft cheeses like brie or camembert can be placed around the base, and don't forget bowls of spreadable cheeses or whipped feta. Incorporate different textures and flavors. Pickles & Olives: These add a wonderful briny counterpoint to the rich meats and cheeses. Small gherkins, cornichons, and a mix of green and black olives are perfect. They also add lovely pops of color. Dips & Spreads: Hummus, pesto, spinach dip, or a flavorful cream cheese spread can be placed in small ramekins around the house or even used as part of the 'landscaping.' Fresh Accents: Cherry tomatoes, small bell pepper strips, cucumber slices, and grapes can add freshness and color. For a true holiday feel, garnish with sprigs of fresh rosemary or thyme – it looks like tiny trees and smells amazing! This 'savory gingerbread house' is more than just food; it's an interactive experience. Encourage guests to pull off crackers and select their favorite meats and cheeses. It's a fantastic way to get people mingling and enjoying delicious food. For those looking for 'holiday party ideas' or 'house party activities,' this edible centerpiece doubles as entertainment. It’s definitely a unique twist that will make your gathering memorable and delicious! Plus, it's a fantastic alternative to traditional sweets, appealing to a wider range of palates.
