My Bridal Purse
This was such a fun project!
My wedding is in 20 days and I still needed my “Something Blue” so I decided to make the lining out of a blue satin that I already had. I might make myself a little garter too… we’ll see if I have time🤣
The outside is fabric and flowers were actually from my mom’s wedding dress! The Flowers were her Bustle Covers which is not something seamstresses do anymore but it’s SO CUTE and I think it should come back! And the purse just closes with a snap inside.
I absolutely LOVE how this little purse came out and can’t wait to use it all week in Punta Cana for our wedding 💙
Let me know what you guys think! I would also LOVE to do this for other brides so just message me and let’s work together!🪡🤍

Creating a personalized bridal purse like this not only adds a meaningful touch to your wedding day but also allows you to incorporate cherished family heirlooms, making your accessory truly one-of-a-kind. Using blue satin for the lining fulfills the tradition of “Something Blue,” symbolizing purity, love, and fidelity. Hand-sewing vintage flowers from a mother’s bustle covers adds a rare, sentimental charm rarely seen in modern bridal accessories, as most seamstresses no longer use this technique. If you're interested in crafting your own bridal purse, starting with choosing the right materials is essential. Heavy-duty fabric for the outer layer ensures durability, while soft, satin fabric makes an elegant lining. Sewing in batting between the lining and outer fabric gives the purse structure and softness. A simple snap closure keeps it functional and easy to use throughout the wedding day. Beyond the purse, adding complementary items like a matching garter can complete your accessory set. This DIY project is perfect for brides who want to infuse their wedding style with creativity and personal history. Plus, working with family heirlooms bridges generations and creates beautiful wedding memories. This project also encourages brides to explore sustainable fashion by repurposing existing fabrics and accessories, reducing waste. If you’re new to sewing but eager to try, tutorials on basic hand sewing and machine stitching can help you build skills. Many crafters share tips online, and communities like #diybride on social media platforms are excellent resources for inspiration and support. Remember, the joy of handcrafting your wedding accessories is in the personal connection and the story behind every stitch. Whether you’re planning a destination wedding in Punta Cana or a traditional ceremony, a custom-made bridal purse can be a treasured keepsake for years to come.
