never give up on yourself. It gets better.

Victus exclusivity projects, there was a time I actually believed people like me would be able to design for BMW until I went to the Academy of Art University and realized how the industry really works. There is a network that you have to be a part of or born into to be even considered for certain manufacturing companies. And even if you penetrated that company you would never be head of design because of a birthright issue you can't control. #design #bespoke #perspectiveiseverything #concept #exclusivity

From my experience, the industry is not just about skill but also about networks and sometimes unchangeable birthrights. When I attended the Academy of Art University, I learned firsthand how much these hidden barriers influence opportunities. Many aspiring designers dream of creating for brands like BMW, but the reality involves navigating established networks and sometimes unspoken rules. The exclusivity is often protected by a tight-knit community, which can feel discouraging. However, understanding this dynamic is vital for crafting your own path. What helped me was shifting focus from trying to break into predetermined circles toward creating unique bespoke projects that highlight individual creativity and perspective. This approach allowed me to build a distinct portfolio and connect with diverse audiences instead of relying solely on traditional industry routes. Design is about perspective, and despite systemic challenges, persistence and self-belief are pivotal. Embracing obstacles as learning experiences enabled me to develop resilience. If you’re passionate about design, remember it’s a journey filled with ups and downs, and staying true to your vision will eventually open doors that once seemed unreachable. Ultimately, never give up on yourself. The industry might seem exclusive, but talent combined with perseverance and a strong personal perspective can lead to meaningful success and fulfillment in design.
