🌙 My Top 5 Astrology Books 📖
1️⃣Cosmos & Psyche, Richard Tarnas, 2006
📜Nonfiction
👩🏫Historical analysis of how & why humans developed astrology.
✨If you want to be able to defend astrology as a legitimate practice, this is for you. It’s dense, I won’t lie- the writing is so academic it took me 11 months to read this one- but you will be able to talk down even the most frustrating skeptic.
2️⃣Planets in Transit, Robert Hand, 1976
🗃️Reference
👩🏫The transits of all the planets through each sign and house of the zodiac.
🌕This is a reference book, so don’t worry about reading this big boy cover to cover. It has explanations of all the major transits-conjunction, sextile, square, trine, and opposition- of all the planets & through all the houses. This is the book you go grab when you can’t remember what “sun square Saturn in the 10th house” means 😅
3️⃣You Were Born For This, Chani Nicholas, 2020
✍️Self-Help-ish, Personal Development
👩🏫The best birth chart book in the biz.
☀️Chani Nicholas is one of the most radical & insightful of our modern astrologers, & her book is only further support of that. This book has in-depth analysis of all the top 3’s- Sun signs, Moon signs, and Rising signs. Her explanations of what these mean and how to interpret the concepts are the best I’ve ever read- I bring this book for EVERY birth chart I do!
4️⃣The American Ephemeris 1950-2050, Neil Michelson & Rique Pottenger, 2011
🗃️Reference
👩🏫The horoscopes for every day of the last 100 years (this is what you use to make charts).
🪐Another reference book so don’t worry about how thick she is- this is just the charts of each planet’s position in the sky every day in the years listed (ephemeris means table of celestial data). You can pull this puppy out for any date in those 100 years & see the exact horoscope of that day- no internet required, & no wondering if you’re reading something accurate.
5️⃣ The Rulership Book
🗃️Reference
👩🏫 A list of every correspondence between a planet and an object, idea, or event.
🌒 Wanna know what planet rules love? Venus. Tickets? Uranus. Capricorn rules knees! It’s a book of lists.
💕📚There are more of course, but these are the ones I recommend most. Please tell me your faves too, or let me know if you’ve read any of these & what you think!

It's so exciting to dive into astrology, and having the right books can make all the difference! When I first started my journey, I remember feeling a bit overwhelmed by the sheer volume of astrology books out there. Beyond just knowing which titles are popular, like 'Cosmos and Psyche' or 'Planets in Transit,' understanding how to use them effectively is key to unlocking their wisdom. For anyone looking to deepen their astrological knowledge, I've found it incredibly helpful to think of astrology books in a few categories: foundational texts, interpretive guides, and practical reference tools. My personal favorites, like those mentioned in the main article – 'Cosmos & Psyche,' 'Planets in Transit,' 'You Were Born For This,' 'The American Ephemeris,' and 'The Rulership Book' – each offer unique value depending on what you're trying to achieve. Take 'Cosmos & Psyche,' for instance. While its book cover might feature intriguing celestial elements, its real power lies in its historical depth. I often recommend it to those who want to understand the philosophical underpinnings of astrology, not just the 'what' but the 'why.' It can truly equip you to articulate astrology's legitimacy. Then there are the practical reference books, which are absolutely indispensable. 'Planets in Transit' by Robert Hand is a prime example. I use it constantly to understand current planetary movements and how they might influence daily life or specific periods. You don't need to read it cover-to-cover; it's a book you *consult*. Similarly, 'The American Ephemeris' is my go-to for accurate horoscopes and pulling up birth charts for any date without relying on the internet. It's like having a reliable astrological database right at your fingertips. I've spent hours with its purple book cover open, meticulously charting planetary positions. For personal insight, 'You Were Born For This' by Chani Nicholas is a standout. It's fantastic for really digging into your own birth chart – your Sun, Moon, and Rising signs. I've found her approach so empowering for self-discovery. It helps you connect the dots between the cosmic map of your birth and your actual life experience. And let's not forget 'The Rulership Book.' This red-covered gem is pure gold for quick look-ups, connecting planets to everyday objects, body parts, or concepts. It’s amazing how many times I’ve pulled it out to clarify a symbol or association. My advice for fellow astrology enthusiasts is to build a well-rounded library. Start with an interpretive guide to grasp the basics, then gradually add reference books as your curiosity grows. Don't be intimidated by thicker volumes; sometimes the most valuable insights are found within pages that aren't meant to be read linearly. Each of these astrology books has played a significant role in my own learning, helping me understand myself and the world around me through a cosmic lens. Happy reading and exploring the stars!

Is there a way to figure out someones Rising Sign using an Ephemeris or do you calculate it somehow? ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🖤
