At 56 Years Young, I was the oldest Snowboarder at the 2025 Holiday Rail Jam at the Keystone Resort yesterday afternoon in the Hike Park! 🙌
This was my first Rail Jam EVER and I was definitely over my head with this event but did the BEST that I could with very little Rail Experience because I am a Box Rider...❄️📦🏂📦❄️
Super Stoked that I stepped out of my comfort zone and faced my Terrain Park Rail ANXIETY with this event. Much more to learn over time by watching what the other 🏂 and ⛷️ were throwing down on the Rails...They were simply INCREDIBLE! ❄️🏆❄️ 🙌
A BIG Thank You for all who have followed me on my Terrain Park journey this far...🌲❤️🙏❤️🌲
📷: I always wanted to complete in a Rail Jam and now I can scratch it off my Bucket List. This is just the beginning and not the end of my Terrain Park journey.
Major takeaways from this event:
[🏂] If you do not go after what you want, you will never achieve it
[🏂] If you do not step forward, you will always remain in the same place
I am going to frame this Picture along with my Bib Number as a reminder of how far I have come in the Terrain Park in such little time...🖼❄️🏂❄️🖼

Having been primarily a box rider, stepping onto the rails for the first time can be intimidating due to the technical skills and balance required. Terrain parks offer a variety of features such as rails, boxes, jumps, and pipes, each demanding different techniques and confidence levels.
From personal experience, confronting terrain park anxiety is a significant mental hurdle. Watching more experienced snowboarders and skiers perform tricks on rails can be both inspiring and intimidating. It’s important to remember that everyone starts somewhere, and incremental progress is essential. Observing others’ techniques closely and gradually attempting simpler features helps build the necessary skills and confidence.
Moreover, events like the Holiday Rail Jam at Keystone Resort provide an excellent community atmosphere where riders of all ages and skill levels can share their passion. The camaraderie and encouragement found in these settings not only motivate but also enhance learning.
Framing one’s bib number and photo from such events serves as a powerful reminder of personal growth and achievement. It symbolizes stepping out of comfort zones and embracing challenges regardless of age. This journey underscores the message: if you don’t pursue what you want or step forward, you’ll never move beyond your current capabilities.
For anyone interested in trying terrain park snowboarding, starting with boxes and small rails is advisable. Wearing proper protective gear, including helmets and padding, minimizes injury risk. Also, considering lessons or clinics available at resorts like Keystone can provide personalized guidance that accelerates learning.
Ultimately, snowboarding in terrain parks is about continuous learning, enjoying the ride, and celebrating every milestone on the way. This journey, marked by enthusiasm and resilience, is truly inspiring for riders of all ages.
