Do you want to give your baby the gift of sweet soft comfort? Something they can hold onto, smell, wrap themselves in and feel like they’re in your arms💞 well then stick around ! Today I’ll be showing you how I made my baby’s comfort blanket that has been with her since birth (I took it to the hospital to receive her in) ✨
This handmade chunky blanket is the perfect pregnancy pastime (when you need to unwind and de-stress), but it’s also a wonderful gift you can make for your newborn baby to keep and cherish as they get older.
***PRO TIP : As soon as I finished weaving this blanket I would use it all the time as my primary blanket when lounging around my home. This was with the purpose of getting it as close as possible to getting my scent so my baby could really recognize it as comforting 💖
Depending on how big or small you need your blanket, you’ll need roughly 4 to 5 skeins(yarn balls) of your choice, mine used 4 but because I didn’t want a big blanket for my newborn.
For this DIY you literally just need Yarn & a good pair of scissors ✂️
Start of by getting your yarn, and casting about 40-50 good stitches. It’s going to look like a giant anaconda for a bit, just trust the process 😅 you’re gonna keep going until you get the length you would like 🧶
Starting the Last end of the Chunky Blanket:
When you reach the end, make another loop on the top you’re going to feed the loop through the previous loop and pull it over. You’re gonna continue this process until you reach the end, remember you try and keep these loops on the looser side to prevent the last row from being too tight and curling on you. Once you’ve reached the end you’re gonna tie the ends off and take the last two loops and tie the tail to those last two loops. Make sure the tie is tight and even do a second loop for good measure. You can either hide the tail inbetween the yarn by feeding it in the loops or cut and burn the ends.
