PayPal is not always as safe as we think
I thought I would be protected if my transaction is done on PayPal, but turns out, I was still scammed and have no where to report it.
I bought a record player on Mercari, and the seller directed me to another website to purchase because they said something about the platform taking money. He's not wrong. I sold things on Mercari and knew about the policy. But my "smart mind" was like, I don't trust the website, how do I make sure it's secure. He said it's going to go through PayPal.
The moment I heard PayPal, I thought to myself ""great! I'm going to finally have a record player!"" It jumped to the PayPal payment page, it shows $80, but when I hit confirm, it jumped to a foreign currency?? I'm not too good with currency exchange but I can see the number's not right. After I googled the exact amount, it's $750!!
I was shocked and actually froze for a sec. Obviously, blocked by the seller, can't access the website anymore, and lost money.
I'm in the process of trying to dispute the charge but just wanted to come on here and let everyone know that PayPal is not always safe. Maybe they done something to create a fake PayPal page or whatever, but don't trust easily. I learned my lesson so you don't have to.

Maybe you should have never bought anything from another site other than Mercari! Not being rude that was your mistake :(
