Touch rugby fitness
Getting fitter for when I return to touch, it has been a very long time given that the home of touch turf city has been taken out and the comp is kinda spread out, looking forward to stepping people again
Training for touch rugby involves more than just running; it’s a combination of speed, agility, endurance, and strength. Since the closure of the main touch rugby turf in Singapore, like Turf City, many players have adapted by seeking training spots in neighborhoods such as Tampines and Novena, where facilities like Snap Fitness and 24/7 Fitness hubs provide great options. Incorporating running drills is crucial, as touch rugby demands quick sprints and fast directional changes. Personal experience shows that adding ankle weights during warm-ups—such as 2kg weights from Decathlon—can boost leg strength and power, enhancing on-field performance. Additionally, maintaining a solid strength and conditioning routine is essential to prevent injuries and increase overall resilience, which I've found helpful when returning to competitive play. Coaches near Tampines Street 22 and other locations often offer tailored programs for touch rugby enthusiasts. Finally, community and shared experiences are an important part of staying motivated. Training groups or local competitions around Shenton Way or Woodlands foster camaraderie and push players to improve. I'm looking forward to reconnecting with this community while stepping up my fitness for the next season.
