My rules as a parent
These rules represent what I would be like as a parent. I know not everything is perfectly realistic, but this is the standard I will try to hold my kids to. Disclaimer: I don’t have any kids so I don’t know what parenting is like. If you disagree with me that’s okay but don’t be rude.

Rules:
1. Don’t say anything about someone that you wouldn’t want said to/about you
2. Knock on doors before entering
3. Only two hours of screen time per day
4. Clean up after yourself before starting another task
5. Tell the truth
6. Apologize when you know you did something wrong
7. Everyone that wants a turn gets equal one
8. Name one thing you’re grateful for everyday
9. No dating until you start high school
10. It’s okay to feel things deeply as long as you and everyone else stay safe
11. Use your manners
12. You have to try something before saying you don’t like it
13. Ask for and offer others help when needed
14. Respect other people’s property
15. Don’t give up just because it’s hard
16. Take breaks when you feel challenged
17. Use belly breathing before reacting when you’re upset
18. Name your feelings
19. You can choose to believe something different from me; I’ll always accept you
20. Use positive self talk
21. Ask before giving hugs or high fives
22. Don’t be afraid to ask questions
23. You have to spend at least one hour in the summer and twenty minutes in the winter outside every day
24. You don’t get your own pets until you are twelve if you want one
25. You must go to therapy at least once a month
26. No phones until you start middle school
27. We use anatomically correct words for our bodies
28. Co-ed sleepovers are okay if I know & trust their parents
29. Take care of your body
30. Swearing is only okay if it’s not calling names and if you are mature about it
31. Do your chores and you’ll get a small treat each week
32. Eat until you are full not until your plate is empty
33. Worry about yourself (no tattling)
34. Internet access will be somewhat limited
35. Just because I’m the parent doesn’t mean you owe me anything
