Renovation Progress ✨ Week 8 ✨

Week 7 - was more on the 1st coat of painting works, service yard window installation, marble gum grouting & polishing works. For these 3 jobs, we actually sub-out to another company to do instead of our ID which also save us some costs 💵💵💵

Week 8 - start to have the carpentry works coming in, lighting installations. For the plumbing fittings installation, there is some hiccups and delays as we choose to order our toilet vanity set from online eventhough we ordered in early Dec 2025. Eventhough there are some delay, we will still choose to have ordered online as it saves us quite a significant costs compared to our ID quoted costs.

As the renov is coming to an end, there is definitely more stress and coordination works as we start to prepare for the different furniture deliveries while finishing up the remaining miscellaneous items and defect checking works with the ID.....

... Read moreDuring Week 8 of our renovation, coordination became more crucial as we managed overlapping tasks like carpentry, lighting installation, and plumbing fittings. One challenge we faced was the delayed delivery of our toilet vanity set ordered online months ago—it highlighted the importance of early ordering during renovations. However, despite this hiccup, buying online proved more budget-friendly compared to contractor quotes, which was a major plus. I'd also emphasize the value of outsourcing specialized jobs such as marble gum grouting and polishing to trusted companies. This approach not only saved us costs but also allowed our interiors designer (ID) to focus on core design areas. Additionally, protecting floors during painting and construction, as seen in our use of NIPPON paint floor protection sheets, helped maintain the integrity of our home surfaces amid the ongoing work. As the project edges towards completion, the stress of coordinating furniture deliveries with finishing touches and defect inspections is very real. My advice to anyone renovating is to maintain good communication with your ID and contractors and plan for some flexibility, especially with product arrivals. Overall, this renovation phase taught me patience and the importance of balancing cost-saving efforts with project timelines to achieve the best outcome.
