I’ve noticed that some people are deeply passionate about collecting high-end handbags, while others just can’t relate or feel it’s worth the investment. Personally, I've encountered friends who couldn’t be persuaded to carry designer bags, no matter how trendy or celebrated the brand is. One major reason behind this reluctance is the practical side of owning such bags. High-end brands like Celine, Chanel, or Christian Dior often come with hefty price tags—even pre-owned options can be expensive. The Micro Luggage Bag in grainy leather from Celine, for example, despite being pre-owned, retails for nearly $1,000 or more. This financial commitment feels unnecessary to some, especially if the bag is primarily for aesthetic value instead of everyday use. Moreover, many people have concerns about the exclusivity and social signaling that comes with designer bags. Wearing a luxury bag can attract unwanted attention or create a sense of pressure to maintain an image. Some individuals prefer understated accessories that don't immediately shout status. The condition and authenticity of pre-owned bags add another layer of complexity. While pre-owned bags can be more affordable and environmentally friendly, buyers must verify the bag’s condition and authenticity vigilantly, often relying on trusted retailers or platforms. For instance, a pre-owned Chanel bag marked "Good Condition" might still require careful inspection before purchase. Fashion trends also evolve rapidly. A bag that’s highly coveted today might not hold the same appeal a few years down the road. Thus, owning multiple luxury handbags might not be appealing unless one is deeply invested in fashion or collecting. From my experience, if you genuinely love a designer bag and it matches your personal style, go for it. But if you feel pressured or indifferent, it’s perfectly valid to opt out. After all, fashion is a form of self-expression, and the most important thing is to feel comfortable and authentic in what you carry.
