Why You Keep Falling Into the Same Patterns…🫠

6/17 Edited to

... Read moreIt's a frustrating cycle, isn't it? That feeling of trying to move forward, only to find yourself right back where you started, repeating the same patterns in your relationships, career, or even just your daily habits. I've been there countless times, asking myself, 'Why do I keep falling into the same patterns?' It felt like I was stuck in a loop I couldn't escape, and for the longest time, I thought it was just my destiny or bad luck. But what I've learned on my own journey is that the root of these recurring patterns often lies deeper than the actions themselves – it's in our thoughts and beliefs. Think about it: every decision, every reaction, every path we choose, truly begins with a thought. Before we even act in a certain way, before there's any 'compromise' with our goals, there's often an 'agreement' within our minds. We unknowingly agree with certain narratives about ourselves or our circumstances. This is where the real battle lies; it's not just what you're doing externally, but profoundly, it's what you're believing internally. I remember struggling with pervasive negative self-talk, telling myself things like, 'I'll always be overlooked,' or 'I'm not enough.' Sometimes, even the thought, 'God forgot about me,' would creep in during my lowest moments. These aren't just fleeting ideas; they're the 'bricks' we lay down with every repeated thought. And what are we building with these bricks? Is it peace or anxiety? Faith or fear? Wisdom or confusion? Confidence or insecurity? Our thoughts are constantly constructing the reality we experience. If we're consistently laying bricks of doubt and inadequacy, it’s no wonder we find ourselves building a life filled with those very patterns. The truth is, many of us are convinced to question what we inherently know to be true about our worth and potential. We let those nagging voices, those old stories, dictate our present and future. But here's the powerful realization: the power to break free isn't about sheer willpower alone; it's about consciously challenging and shifting those underlying agreements. To truly break free from these cycles, I've found a few things incredibly helpful in my own life: Identify the Core Belief: When you find yourself in a familiar, unwelcome pattern, pause and ask: What thought or belief led me here? Is it 'I'm too broken' or 'I can't succeed'? Pinpoint that specific 'brick' you're laying. Question the Narrative: Once you've identified it, challenge it. Does this thought truly serve me? Does it align with the truth of who I aspire to be? Does it agree with the positive affirmations you know deep down are meant for you? Often, we accept these thoughts without ever questioning their validity. Actively Rebuild Your Mindset: This is where you consciously start laying new bricks. If the old thought was 'I'm not enough,' actively replace it with 'I am capable and worthy.' If it was 'I'll always be overlooked,' choose to believe 'My contributions are valuable and seen.' This isn't about ignoring reality; it's about choosing which reality you're actively building towards. Guard Your Mind Daily: Just like you'd protect your home, protect your mental space. This means being intentional about what you consume, who you spend time with, and how you speak to yourself. It's a daily practice of redirecting negative thoughts and reinforcing positive, empowering beliefs. Save this as a reminder: your mind is your most powerful tool in breaking patterns. It takes consistent effort, but by understanding that our recurring patterns stem from our deepest thoughts and beliefs, we gain the power to change them. Start today by examining the 'bricks' you're laying. What kind of structure do you want to build?
