Hey nature lovers! I just had the most amazing time at Clifty Falls State Park, and I wanted to share my experience, especially for those of you trying to figure out "where is Clifty Falls" and "clifty falls trail map." Trust me, it's a spot you don't want to miss in Indiana! First off, Clifty Falls State Park is nestled right in Jefferson County, Indiana, near the historic town of Madison. It's super easy to find – just plug "Clifty Falls State Park" into your GPS, and it'll lead you straight there. I drove from a couple of hours away, and the scenic drive itself was part of the adventure. There's an entrance fee, which is totally worth it for the beauty you'll encounter. Now, about those trails and the map! This is where the real fun begins. The park is famous for its rugged, scenic hiking trails that wind around four main waterfalls: Little Clifty Falls, Hoffman Falls, Tunnel Falls, and of course, Clifty Falls itself. When I arrived, I grabbed a physical trail map from the nature center, which I highly recommend. It’s incredibly helpful for navigating the various loops and making sure you don't miss any of the stunning views. You can also often find a digital version on the Indiana State Parks website before you go, which is great for planning. I'd categorize the trails from easy to rugged. For a relatively easy walk with great views, I loved Trail 7, which leads to the observation deck for Clifty Falls. It's paved in some sections, making it accessible. But if you're like me and love a bit more challenge, Trails 4 and 5 are absolute must-dos. They take you down into the canyon, offering up-close views of the waterfalls and the incredible rock formations. Be prepared for uneven terrain, mud (especially after rain, which makes the falls even more spectacular!), and plenty of stairs. I wore my sturdy hiking boots, and they were a lifesaver. My personal favorite, besides the main Clifty Falls, was exploring the area around Tunnel Falls. It's a bit of a trek, but the reward is seeing the water cascade over an old railroad tunnel – it’s such a unique sight! I spent ages just soaking in the atmosphere and taking photos with my Samsung Galaxy S22, just like the author of the original post did. The lighting was perfect for capturing the misty beauty. A few tips for your visit: Go after a good rain if you want to see the waterfalls at their most impressive. Bring plenty of water and snacks, as some trails can take a few hours. And don't forget your camera – every turn offers a postcard-worthy view. Whether you're a seasoned hiker or just looking for a beautiful natural escape, Clifty Falls State Park offers an unforgettable experience. It's truly a jewel in Indiana's crown!
