Tiktok Ban? (Almost Montana!) What do U all think
Ok, so "You Know Who" has done a 360 on the decision of banning tiktok🤔. Keep in mind that they were amongst those who first shared their concerns about the social media platform being disadvantageous to the goals, freedom, and governmental privacy of the citizens of the United States and it political strategies.
All concerns are very much valid.
However, to change one's mind after convincing millions of people of such possible threats that tiktok proposes seems a bit concerning as it leaves most people in disarray and questions the change in this stance. (Especially since they were so adamant about it)
Several states have passed the bill to ban Tiktok, and Montana was almost successful in banning the app last year (that meant you can't use Tiktok in Montana: it would be a violation of the law and subject to severe fine, or imprisonment ⚠️ if this ban was executed).
Keeping in mind that Montana took seriously the claims made by "You Know Who" and after several investigations and findings, the social media platform was indeed found to be in contempt and deemed dangerous to the endeavors of this great nation. (Keep in mind the judge ruled against this, as it was said to infringe more on the rights of users and business users)
As to why one would change their minds after their concerns have been validated is beyond the whole nation 🤷♂️. All the states that had taken a stance against Tiktok continue to do so regardless of "You know Who's change in decisions," as the BILL continues to pass.
The bill passed 352 to 65 and now goes to Senate where it's prospect are unclear.
If you are not sure about the concerns raised on tiktok by "You Know Who," let me give you a quick rundown:

2. ByteDance is beholded by the Chinese government; what does this mean, you ask?
TikTok poses a national security threat because the Chinese government could use its intelligence laws against ByteDance, forcing it to hand over the data of US TikTok users.
As a lover of Tiktok, I am sad 😔 but at the same time, I wish for the safety of this great nation and hope our leaders make the right decision.
