What 2 months of actually caring for my skin did 🤍

2 months ago i was dealing with constant breakouts, texture issues, and honestly just felt so defeated. i decided to stop overcomplicating things and go back to basics — cleanse properly, hydrate, and protect. the before & after still shocks me 😭

here’s my simple AM/PM routine that saved my skin:

☀️ morning = keep it light

caudalie vinopure toner — lightweight and refreshing, literally my morning wake-up essential

cerave ultra-light moisturizing lotion — excellent sun protection, protects my skin barrier and never feels greasy

🌙 night = where the magic happens this is when i really focus on getting my skin clean and happy.

step 1: ddg soft moist cleansing balm (oat aroma) 🫧

this is THE product i tell everyone about. i wear makeup and SPF daily, and this oil-based balm melts it all off without any pulling or tugging. it’s super gentle (perfect for my sensitive skin!) and the oat aroma is so calming. i gently massage it for a full minute and literally watch my makeup dissolve. no residue, no tight feeling — just soft, clean skin.

step 2: the ordinary squalane cleanser

my second cleanse to make sure every last bit is gone. gentle and effective.

step 3: ddg toner & lotion set

lightweight, non-comedogenic hydration that doesn’t feel heavy at all.

the biggest change? taking my evening cleanse seriously. i used to be so lazy with makeup removal and my skin paid the price. ever since i started double cleansing with the ddg cleansing balm, my breakouts have calmed down SO much and my skin texture is finally smoothing out.

swipe for the before & after! if you’re struggling with breakouts too, start with your cleanse — it honestly changed everything for me ✨

Many people with sensitive or breakout-prone skin often overcomplicate their routine, introducing too many active ingredients too quickly, which can aggravate skin further. What I found helpful was focusing on triple priorities: cleansing thoroughly, hydrating adequately, and protecting daily. In the mornings, using a lightweight toner like Caudalie Vinopure helped refresh and prep my skin without overwhelming it. Pairing it with a moisturizer that has built-in sun protection, such as Cerave Ultra-Light Moisturizing Lotion, provided hydration and barrier support while keeping oiliness at bay, which is crucial to prevent clogged pores. Evenings were about gentle but effective cleansing to remove makeup, residue, and pollutants. The double cleansing method—starting with the ddg Soft Moist Cleansing Balm (with its soothing oat aroma) to dissolve makeup gently, followed by The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser to remove leftover impurities—resulted in cleaner, calmer skin. This step was vital to reduce breakouts and improve texture. Another key lesson was consistency. It can be tempting to skip evening cleansing or use harsh scrubs, but investing time and care made my skin more resilient and balanced. Lightweight, non-comedogenic hydration with ddg toner and lotion at night kept my skin nourished without heaviness. If you’re struggling with breakouts or texture, I recommend starting with your cleansing routine and choosing gentle, hydrating products that support your skin barrier. It’s surprising how much a simple, well-thought-out routine can change your skin’s health after just a couple of months!
