Far deep into the darkest part of the Evergreen Forest, there had been carved out with powerful magic to create a secretive cave that had been protected with a powerful barrier to cover the hole on the side of the large cliff that had dead patches of grass or just large boulders just sticking there. The barrier came down for a few seconds and entered a shadowy pony figure, and then the horn glowed a light blue hue to put it back up. The hoof clops echo down the pony made cave that stretched downwards for only five minutes. Once the pony stopped, their pastel green eyes scanned the small circle of four other ponies.
“We must get this right!” A shadow figure pony demanded another shadow figure of a unicorn pony. They both started at a black collar with chains elegantly clasped to the collar with a bow at the back to tie the ribbonlike collar together, as if to make sure it was more elegantly beautiful to wear. But the real eye catcher is the beautiful heart shaped pendant that gleamed in any kind of light. The red ruby heart that is surrounded by a golden heart frame, holds a dark spell that can only be broken by a much powerful spell of love and compassion. A sigh could be heard from one of the other cloaked ponies inside of the secret lair of the cave.
“It has to work! I worked on this spell all night! Maybe we can be lucky this time!” The shadow unicorn pony huffed in annoyance the horn glowed a red and purple hue, shooting the beam at the ruby heart pendant. They watched with curious and hopeful eyes that the ruby will not shatter into pieces, hoping the fourth time will be successful. The ruby glowed four times before it finally stopped glowing. There was no cracking sound, nor a crackle as if the lightning had struck it with its powerful electricity.
“Finally! After the fourth time, it worked! No shattering, no crackles, just a simple ruby that is breathtakingly more beautiful with the spell tucked inside of it!” They both cheered in triumph of not breaking this time. The third attempt was very close, but in the end, it needed to be tweaked just a tad bit more to make it perfect and to not shatter, nor give it away that somepony put a spell on it. Not wanting to spoil their plans for revenge or just some poor excuse to make it seem like revenge.
“Now it is time to visit the beloved Ponyville.” The shadow of the third pony walked closer to their masterpiece collar, spreading their wings wide as their horn started to glow a green hue. Lifting the collar in the air and bringing it closer, grinning widely as the pony then started cackling evilly. The other three join in on the evil laughter to destroy Ponyville, only because of personal issues that they share in common, no cutie mark, which means they were ridiculed to the point that they harbored this anger and hatred.
“We leave tonight, get ready by packing food and supplies, but lightly. We do not want to be seen that quickly.” The shadow alicorn pony advised the other three ponies as they nodded their heads. Leaving to their own makeshift “rooms” to gather the very little supplies they will need on this journey. They have decided to go on hoof because magic or flying, could wake up somepony and cause not only one pony, but grow more eyes to see what was going on in their sleepy village.
The prologue vividly sets the stage for a tale of dark magic and revenge woven into the beloved My Little Pony universe, yet with a compelling twist centered on the emotional scars of being cutie mark-less. From personal experience, narratives that explore such emotional undercurrents within fantastical settings often resonate deeply with readers, lending layers of depth and relatability to the storyline. The enchanted ruby heart pendant, carefully crafted and protected by spells only broken by love and compassion, symbolizes not just power but vulnerability. This dynamic creates compelling tension—illustrating that even objects of great dark magic have limits and are susceptible to the softest yet strongest of forces: genuine kindness. Readers who enjoy stories of magical intrigue paired with emotional themes will find this approach enriching. The mentioned secret lair beneath a cliff, guarded by magical barriers, offers a vivid and suspenseful setting that invites curiosity about what lies ahead. Additionally, the motif of shadowy ponies bearing the sting of ridicule for lacking cutie marks highlights a universal feeling of rejection and desire for belonging, amplified here into a quest for revenge. This characterization makes the antagonists more nuanced and humans (or ponies) them in a way that transcends simple villainy. Experiencing the story from such perspectives enhances empathy and adds complexity to the narrative. It also raises anticipation for how their conflicted feelings and dark plans will intertwine with the fate of Ponyville. For fans intrigued by alternate universe (AU) stories and My Little Pony lore, this prologue provides an excellent gateway. The use of layered magical elements like the glowing horns and enchanted collar conjures familiar fantasy imagery while pushing the boundaries into darker, more mature themes. An interesting element is the plan to travel discreetly on hoof to avoid detection, which adds a realistic touch to their covert mission and intensifies suspense. Overall, engaging with content like this can inspire readers and writers alike to explore how fantasy worlds reflect real-world emotions and struggles. It encourages creative storytelling that balances magical spectacle with heartfelt narrative, making the tale of Ponyville’s threatened peace feel personal and urgent. This prologue invites readers to delve into a story that promises to blend dark enchantment, emotional depth, and suspenseful adventure.
