My weekend in Tacoma, WA
Unfortunately it wasn’t for the greatest of reasons. It was great to see my family. I had a blast, reminded me of my childhood. It was healing.
Rest in peace & love, Uncle Danny.
#travelday: Bay Area 🚙🚐 Tacoma (12+ hrs, in a 15 passenger van) -kinda wild.
It's true, my recent trip to Tacoma was deeply personal and focused on family, but being in the city reminded me how much there is to explore! If you're ever planning your own visit to Tacoma, Washington, whether it's for an event, a family gathering, or just a weekend getaway, there's quite a bit to discover beyond the emotional moments I shared. Of course, one of the first things many people think of when they hear Tacoma is the Tacoma Dome. It's such an iconic part of the skyline and truly a hub for entertainment. While I didn't get to catch a show this time, I know it hosts everything from major concerts and comedy acts to sporting events and trade shows. If you're looking for big-name performers or a lively atmosphere, checking their schedule before your trip is definitely a must-do. It’s a huge draw for visitors and locals alike, and a great spot to add to your itinerary if you're looking for some high-energy fun. But Tacoma offers so much more than just the Dome! My family and I had some amazing "cousin bonding" moments, especially when we went bowling – a classic family activity that always brings out the competitive spirit and lots of laughs. It’s a reminder that sometimes the simplest pleasures are the best. And after a long day, gathering around a fire pit with loved ones, sharing stories under the stars, created some truly warm and healing memories. The city itself has a really unique vibe. I love the blend of urban life with natural beauty. If you're into glass art, the Museum of Glass is a world-class attraction, and you can even watch artists at work. For those who enjoy the outdoors, Point Defiance Park is huge, offering everything from beautiful gardens and beaches to a zoo and aquarium. I also got a glimpse of the famous Tacoma Narrows Bridge during my travels – it's quite a sight, especially with the sun reflecting off the water. For foodies, Tacoma's diverse culinary scene is worth exploring, from cozy cafes to delicious seafood spots along the waterfront. And if you're like me and appreciate a good brew, there are plenty of local coffee shops and breweries to check out. While I wasn't specifically looking for "coffeezaun espresso reviews" during my trip, I did enjoy some fantastic local coffee that kept me going through our long road trip from the Bay Area! Even though my trip had a somber start, Tacoma definitely offered moments of joy, reflection, and connection. It's a city with a lot of heart, and I'd recommend it for anyone looking for a rich experience, whether it's for family, events at the Tacoma Dome, or just exploring a vibrant Pacific Northwest gem.
