Little Nightmares III

$39.99

Release Date: 2024 (no set date has been announced yet)

Super excited for this one!! I’ve played the first two little nightmares games and absolutely fell in love with the storylines and graphics in the game.

In this new and upcoming Little Nightmares III, the game follows two new child protagonists, Low and Alone, as they navigate through The Nowhere and escape from a looming threat.

If you love horror and puzzle type games, I definitely recommend you try playing the first two games!

Stardew Valley

$34.99

I know, I’m so late on this one 😭 lol but I constantly see good reviews from people who have played it, but I just haven’t went out and got it yet to play. Definitely on my wishlist though!

Stardew Valley is open-ended, allowing players to grow crops, raise livestock, fish, cook, mine, forage, and socialize with the townspeople, including the ability to marry and have children.

It allows up to eight players to play online together!

Night in the Woods

$19.99

Night in the Woods is a single-player narrative adventure that follows Mae, a black cat, who has returned to her home town after having just dropped out of college.

Mae’s surrounded by remnants of her old life, including her doting and concerned parents, a town of burned out adults, and a friend group desperately trying to figure out their early 20s.

As someone in their 20s, and still figuring out life and seeing other great reviews from this game, it’s made me add this to my wishlist. Definitely something different from other games, so I can’t wait to see what it’s all about!

Have you played any of these games? What games are currently on your wishlist? ⤵️

... Read moreYou know, there's just something so captivating about playing games where you experience the world through the eyes of a child protagonist. It brings a unique blend of vulnerability, wonder, and often, incredible resilience to the storytelling. That's a huge part of why I'm so excited for games like Little Nightmares III, where you'll follow Low and Alone as they navigate The Nowhere and try to escape from a looming threat. The perspective of child characters in a suspenseful, puzzle-heavy environment just amplifies everyドキドキ (heartbeat) moment and makes the stakes feel incredibly high, doesn't it? Their innocence combined with dangerous worlds creates such a potent narrative. It’s not just about horror, though. Games with child leads often explore profound themes of innocence, courage, and adapting to overwhelming circumstances. Think about the way these characters, despite their small stature, face immense challenges and grow throughout their journey. It makes their victories feel so much more earned and their struggles more poignant. We often project our own childhood memories of discovery and fear onto them, which creates a deep emotional connection. The world feels bigger, more mysterious, and sometimes scarier when seen from a child's height, making exploration and problem-solving all the more engaging. While Stardew Valley might not feature a child protagonist in the traditional sense, its charm lies in building a new life, tending to your farm, and engaging in activities like growing crops, raising livestock, fishing, cooking, mining, foraging, and socializing with the townspeople – all elements that strongly evoke a sense of wholesome, almost childlike exploration and self-sufficiency. It’s a game that lets you embrace a simpler, yet deeply rewarding, existence, much like a grand adventure from a childhood storybook. The freedom it offers, along with the ability for up to eight players to play online together, truly makes it a world you can get lost in, fostering a sense of community and shared discovery reminiscent of childhood friendships. Then there's Night in the Woods, which, while focusing on Mae, a black cat navigating her early twenties, brilliantly captures the essence of a transitional phase often likened to a second adolescence. It's about figuring out who you are, reconnecting with your past, and facing the uncertainties of the future. The internal struggles and existential questions Mae grapples with resonate deeply with anyone who has felt a bit lost or is trying to find their place after a significant life change. The narrative depth and character development in games like this, where you're peeling back layers of experience, often echo the profound discoveries and challenges that shape us from childhood into adulthood. It’s a powerful story of self-discovery, friendship, and coming to terms with the world around you. So, if you're like me and find yourself drawn to games that offer unique perspectives, whether through literal child protagonists battling monsters or narratives that capture the essence of growth and discovery across different life stages, I highly recommend diving into these types of experiences. They truly offer something special and often leave a lasting impression long after you've put the controller down. What other games with young heroes or compelling coming-of-age stories have you loved? I'm always looking for more recommendations!
