Should you complain about work with ur coworkers?

Yesterday at lunch, my coworker ranted about the last-minute deadline our boss dumped on us, and it got me thinking when did I stop holding my tongue about this stuff? As a new grad, I never said a word. I’d sit there during lunch chit-chat, nodding along while others griped about layoffs or RTO rules but I was scared to pipe up.

It felt like complaining would make me look negative or ungrateful. Now, I still keep it professional but if the talk turns to the c-suite’s dumb moves (like flipping RTO rules every week or cutting our team without adjusting project scope), I’ll say what’s on my mind.

It’s just talking about real stuff we all deal with. Why pretend everything’s fine when half the office’s stressed about the same garbage? Holding it in used to feel safe, but now it just feels silly. Do you vent about work when you’re at work?
