Why hit me up when I’m on vacation?

I’m gearing up for a two-week vacation, and I’m already dreading my manager blowing up my phone. Last time she hit me up at 9pm on a Friday asking for info which she could’ve easily gotten from another teammate. Like, it was that person’s details she wanted, not mine!

But I still texted the teammate to grab the info, then sent it over, all because my manager said she needed it “right away” to send the CEO that night. Fast forward a week and a half, she emails me like, “Thanks for that info! Just sent it to the CEO.” Wait, what? Why the hell did she act like it was urgent if she sat on it for weeks?

Now I’m annoyed. Because if she texts me on vacation, I’m gonna snap. I’m not great at managing anger or big feelings. yeah, I’m an adult, and therapy’s helping but why can’t work stay at work when I’m off? How would you handle this? If your boss hit you up for dumb and non-urgent stuff on vacation, what would you say or do?

i’d ignore her as well - i’m unsure how your HR department works but you could let them know now what’s going on instead of waiting till you get back. if you’re off the clock you shouldn’t work - and that includes responding to texts. could be petty and tell her that you expect to be paid for responding to her too 😭

block their number, unblock when you return to work
