It’s not about right or wrong…
It’s about how their behavior. I’ve been in a situation where I have said stupid stuff, but I never was disrespectful to the friend I was having a conversation with. They have called me out of my name, called me delusional, snd said derogatory things about my disabilities, even after I set boundaries. Never crossed their boundaries until they crossed mine.
I make this post to say this: Friends will always tell you the truth, and it may hurt your feelings, but there is a difference between hurt feelings and outright disrespect and degradation.
Know your worth‼️
In relationships, understanding the dynamics of respect and boundaries is crucial for maintaining mental well-being. Everyone has moments where they may say things they regret; however, respect should be a fundamental element in friendships. When someone continuously crosses boundaries and delivers derogatory comments, it’s essential to reassess that relationship. Setting boundaries is not about limiting others, but safeguarding your mental health. Moreover, true friends will provide honest feedback while maintaining respect. It’s key to distinguish between constructive criticism and outright disrespect, as the latter can severely impact self-esteem and emotional health. Engaging in self-reflection and asserting your worth empowers you to cultivate healthier relationships.
