Where I’d stay, eat & explore if went back to Kyoto, Japan šŸ”šŸœšŸ™

Here are the places that I’d go back to if I was to visit Kyoto again… we were there for 3 nights and we thought this was the perfect amount of time.

We booked all of our accomodation through @Booking.com & if you’re travelling solo (or with friends & you’re wanting to join group tours), I recommend checking out @Klook AU & NZ or @GetYourGuide - the activities are a great way to meet people! ✨

If you’re wanting to visit both Osaka & Kyoto whilst in your Japan, it’s SUPER easy as they are located just a 30 minute bullet train from each other.

... Read moreDuring my second trip to Kyoto, I wanted to delve deeper into some local culinary delights and hidden gems beyond the usual tourist spots. For an unforgettable taste, I highly recommend trying the Umishen Karaage — it’s some of the best fried chicken I’ve ever had, with an original spicy seasoning that really stood out. If you’re keen on experiencing Japan’s flavorful comfort food, this spot shouldn’t be missed. For accommodation, I found that staying in traditional homestays like Gion Yoshiima adds an authentic touch to your experience, complete with a traditional Japanese breakfast that sets the tone for the day. If you're on a budget, Tassel Inn Kyoto Kawaramachi Nijo offers affordable and clean rooms with excellent access to the city. When it comes to food and drinks, I loved visiting places like the Good Morning Record Bar for affordable drinks and lively music — perfect for evenings out. Also, if you’re a matcha fan, spots near the train line serve delightful matcha and cheesecake combos that are both aesthetic and delicious. If time allows, consider exploring monjayaki near Fushimi Inari Taisha. While not traditionally Kyoto, it’s nearby and offers a unique dining experience with its savory pan-fried batter and ingredients. Travel between Kyoto and Osaka is a breeze with just a 30-minute bullet train ride, so combo trips are easy to plan! Booking tours through platforms like Klook or GetYourGuide can also be a great way to meet fellow travelers and join group activities. Overall, this blend of traditional and modern, affordable stays, and carefully picked eateries is what makes Kyoto truly special to me, and I’m confident it will do the same for anyone visiting.
