MEET THE AUTHOR: CLAIRE KOHLER
We’re thrilled to welcome Claire Kohler to the Wandering Shire Book Fest on September 12th!
Claire spends her days swimming with selkies, sword fighting nine-tailed foxes, and fulfilling fairy bargains—all without ever leaving her office chair.
A lover of monsters, culture, and spice-free yearning that has you screaming, “JUST KISS ALREADY!”, Claire decided to create the kind of stories she wanted to read: clean, historical romantasy filled with fascinating cultures, mythical creatures, and plenty of slow-burn longing.
When she isn't lost inside her wonderfully neurodivergent imagination, Claire wears many hats: editor, Bible study leader, homeschool mom, Peter's true love, and occasionally, housecleaner. (That last one is apparently the least magical of the bunch. 😂)
Claire is currently working on the second book in her Korean romantasy series, and we can't wait for you to meet her!
✍️ Catch Claire during our Indie Authors & the Creative Journey Panel at 2 PM, where she'll join fellow indie authors to talk about how they got started, what they've learned along the way, what they wish they'd known, and advice for aspiring writers.
Come meet Claire, learn about her books, and discover what happens when folklore, history, romance, and a little bit of magic find their way onto the page.

As someone who deeply appreciates the blending of folklore and romance in literature, attending an event like the Wandering Shire Book Fest is truly a delight. Claire Kohler’s work stands out because she artfully combines historical settings with fantastical elements like selkies and nine-tailed foxes, creating a unique romantasy experience that hooks you from the start. One of the things I found most fascinating about Claire’s writing is her commitment to clean, slow-burn romances set against richly developed cultures. This approach makes her stories not only entertaining but also respectful and welcoming to a wide readership. Her neurodivergent perspective shines through in the intricate emotional depth and pacing, which to me brings a refreshing authenticity to the romance genre. Attending her panel on indie author journeys was incredibly insightful. Claire shared valuable lessons on perseverance in writing, how to stay true to your creative vision, and the importance of community among indie authors. Her balance of personal life—as an editor, Bible study leader, and homeschool mom—with her creative work highlights the dedication required to succeed as an indie author. For anyone curious about Korean-inspired romantasy or looking for stories infused with magical realism and heartfelt longing, Claire’s series is a must-read. Events like this book fest are wonderful opportunities to connect directly with authors, gain behind-the-scenes insights, and find your next literary adventure. If you love stories where history meets magic and slow-burning romance, Claire Kohler’s work will definitely leave you eager for more.
