Another spot I loved was Xingyun Lake, often called 'Star Lake' because of its shape. It's smaller than Fuxian Lake but equally charming, with lush greenery surrounding it. If you're into local history and culture, don't miss the Nie Er Cultural Plaza, dedicated to the composer of China's national anthem, Nie Er, who was from Yuxi. I found that staying closer to the city gave me easy access to transportation and eateries, while still being a short drive away from all the natural attractions. My biggest tip for anyone planning to visit Yuxi is to embrace the slower pace. It’s not about rushing from one famous landmark to another, but rather about immersing yourself in the beautiful scenery, enjoying the local hospitality, and savoring the quiet moments.
