Learning about Bai Suzhen and Xu Xian while actually being at the location made the legend come alive for me. The original pagoda collapsed in 1924, and the current structure, rebuilt in 2002, does an excellent job of preserving its historical and cultural significance while offering modern conveniences. Beyond the views, take time to explore the base of the pagoda. You can see remnants of the original structure, which gives you a real sense of its age and resilience. I loved just sitting for a moment, soaking in the serene atmosphere and imagining all the history that unfolded on this very spot. It’s more than just a beautiful building; it’s a living piece of Chinese legend and history. So, if you're ever in Hangzhou, make sure Leifeng Pagoda is at the top of your itinerary.
