... Read moreHey For Honor fam! I wanted to dive a bit deeper into playing Hitokiri, especially after getting some awesome plays in my Rewind 187 session. If you're looking to really understand her moveset and start dominating, you've come to the right place. I know some of you might even call her a 'stereotypical hito' player, but honestly, mastering her takes practice! Hitokiri's core strength lies in her unblockable heavy attacks and her infamous 50/50 mix-ups. Let's break down how to effectively use them. Her charged heavy attack is your bread and butter. You can let it fly, feint it into a guard break (GB), or feint it into another light or heavy. The real magic happens with the GB. Your opponent has to guess: do they dodge the heavy and get guard broken, or do they anticipate the GB and get hit by the heavy? This is the essence of her gb 50/50s that you'll hear so much about. Practice delaying your charged heavy or immediately releasing it after a feint to keep your opponent guessing. It's all about mind games! Don't forget about her powerful kick and sweep. The kick is a great opener or chain starter, guaranteeing a light attack if it lands. If you sense your opponent is consistently dodging your kick, you can charge it into a sweep, which is unblockable and knocks them down for a heavy attack. I’ve caught so many players off guard with a well-timed sweep, especially when they're expecting the kick. Knowing when to commit to the kick or the sweep adds another layer to your offense. Her zone attack is also surprisingly useful for clearing minion lanes or punishing dodges, though it consumes a lot of stamina. I often use it to quickly clear the B point, as you saw in the Rewind. Beyond her basic attacks, her feats are crucial. Reaching Feat Level 3 Unlocked! is a game-changer. For example, her Tier 3 feat, 'Senbonzakura' (a quick, unblockable, high-damage attack), can turn the tide of a duel or help secure a kill on a low-health enemy. I’ve used it to Execute Riburamairu more times than I can count! Always be aware of your feat progression and use them strategically. Defensively, Hitokiri relies on her hyper armor on heavier attacks. This means you can trade hits with opponents, especially when they're trying to interrupt your charged heavies. Don't be afraid to absorb a light attack to land a heavy of your own. However, be mindful of characters with unblockable or extremely fast attacks that can bypass your hyper armor or punish your recovery frames. My personal tip: Don't just spam the 50/50. Mix up your attacks, use your lights to interrupt, your kick/sweep to open up, and your charged heavies for pressure. Observe your opponent's tendencies. Do they always dodge on red? Do they try to parry everything? Adjust your strategy accordingly. That's how you really LEVEL UP your Hitokiri game and start dominating zones. What are your favorite Hitokiri combos?
