Humans have doubted the meaning of time for millennia, since the ancient Greek era, Plato has begun to question 'eternity', separating it from 'time' moving forward, but the man who reinforces the meaning of true eternity is Boethius, the classical Roman philosopher.

Boetheus says: Eternity is not a long, never-ending time, but to 'occupy all life simultaneously in the present for a moment.' Simply put, is that for what is eternal, everything is now, there is no past, there is no future, everything happens simultaneously. This idea creates a big problem for religion: If God sees the future as the present, can humans still be left free to decide? Boetheus solves this problem by saying: Yes, we are free to choose! Because even though God sees our actions, he sees them as we choose at the present time, not as a predetermination. This confirms that our choices are truly meaningful, even under the eyes of the eternal.
