🇨🇳24 Days China Solo Trip - 1st stop Xi‘an 3D2N Itinerary
Last December, I flew directly from Singapore to Xi’an and began an unforgettable 24-day journey across Northwest China and Yunnan.
So here’s my 1st stop: Xi’an fly from Singapore. Xi'an, the capital of Shaanxi Province, is one of China's oldest cities and the eastern terminus of the legendary Silk Road.
I stay here for 3 days, and my 1st day focus on city walk around the Xi’an city area. The main highlight are Shu Yuan Men(Ancient Culture Street) 书院⻔步行街 and The Bell Tower of Xi'an 西安钟楼.
Day 2 more like a history culture tour: I booked a half day tour from Xiecheng (Trip) to visit Little Wild Goose Pagoda 小雁塔 and Xi'an Museum ⻄安博物馆. I also visited Xi'an City Wall ⻄安城墙 and The Muslim Quarter 回⺠街.
Day 3 is the main highlight of my Xi’an trip: visited The Terracotta Army 秦始皇兵⻢俑博物馆. I also visit Shuilu Nunnery 水陆庵, which gained modern fame as a partial inspiration for the "Small Leiyin Temple" in the popular game Black Myth: Wukong.
Overall experience was good, the food is cheap and good, and if you are noodles lover, you definitely will like the local food, especially the biang biang Mian 𰻝𰻝面.
And if you are a Chinese history fan, you shouldn't miss visiting here.

The Ancient Culture Street, Shu Yuan Men, offers a perfect stroll through traditional architecture and bustling shops selling local crafts and snacks. One morning, I visited the Dongcangmen Morning Market, which felt alive with locals bustling over fresh produce and local delicacies — a great spot to try authentic Chinese breakfast items.
A highlight was cycling atop the Xi’an City Wall, one of the best-preserved ancient city walls in China. Renting a bike allows you to take in panoramic views and feel the city’s historic pulse while enjoying some light exercise. The Little Wild Goose Pagoda area also features a peaceful garden and museum, offering insights into Buddhist history and Tang Dynasty culture.
Food lovers won’t want to miss tasting the signature biang biang noodles — wide, hand-pulled noodles bursting with flavor and texture. Local eateries like Aihua Kudai Noodles Restaurant serve this dish with rich sauces and fresh toppings, making every bite unforgettable. The Muslim Quarter is another culinary hotspot, where you’ll find unique snacks such as roujiamo (Chinese-style burgers) and yangrou paomo (crumbled flatbread in mutton soup), worth exploring for any traveler.
For history enthusiasts, visiting the Terracotta Army museum is a moving experience. Seeing thousands of life-sized warrior sculptures arranged as if ready for battle gives a profound connection to China’s imperial past. The nearby Shuilu Nunnery’s serene atmosphere and link to modern pop culture through games like Black Myth: Wukong adds a different dimension to the trip.
Overall, Xi’an combines rich cultural heritage with welcoming locals and affordable street food. Whether you’re a history buff or a culinary adventurer, spending a few days exploring its unique sites and tastes provides a rewarding travel experience.
