Why I quit TikTok at 35k followers

Reason 1: My content was not getting on the for you page to get views. I was getting less than 100 views on some videos

Reason 2: When I posted the same content on a different channel, it did far better. This happened on multiple occasions.

Reason 3: I was limited in the audios I could use as a “business account”.

Reason 4: I got on TikTok very early, and have suspicions that my follower count was artificially boosted by TikTok.

I am going to stop posting on this account for now, and post to my other account. Let’s see if we can grow it bigger than my old one

Many creators find that what works on TikTok may not translate well to other platforms. Engagement metrics can be inconsistent, with videos sometimes receiving unexpectedly low views despite a large follower base. This seems to be a common frustration among users. Additionally, being categorized as a ‘business account’ on TikTok often comes with restrictions, particularly in terms of audio usage which can limit creative expression. Such constraints impact the visibility and growth potential of your content. It's also essential to consider the authenticity of your follower count. Some creators speculate that early engagement from platforms like TikTok may not reflect genuine connection. As social media evolves, it’s crucial to assess where to invest your time and energy. Exploring other channels may provide a fresh start, potentially leading to higher engagement and growth than experienced before. By diversifying your content strategy across different platforms, you can discover new audiences and revamp your creative approach.
