The survey points out that EV people are significantly more "satisfied" than oil cars. ⚡

Although the electric car market still has questions about charging stations, distance and ease of use, a recent survey from J.D. Power found interesting data that when people actually own an EV, they have higher satisfaction with their car than combustion engine users in almost every way.

The data comes from the J.D. Power 2026 Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout, or APEAL Study, which explores the feelings, bonds, and excitement of new car owners towards their own car.

The survey showed that electric cars outscored combustion engine cars or ICE in almost every category, where the most distant EVs were the drivetrain.

The EV's drivetrain satisfaction rating was 109 points higher than that of a combustion engine car, out of 1,000 points.

One reason may come from the nature of electric motors, which provide instant torque, rapid response, continuous acceleration, including quieter and softer operation than combustion engines, thus creating a distinctly different driving experience.

Even more interestingly, compared to the previous year's polls, the satisfaction rating of all powered cars increased, but EVs were the group with the largest increase of 22 points.

Reflecting that the new generation of EVs is evolving in a number of areas - increased runway, temperature management systems like Heat Pump, to more convenient networking and charging standards.

J.D. Power collected data from 78,514 Model Year 2026 car owners, inquiring about their experiences during the first 90 days of car ownership.

The study covered a total of 37 aspects of the car's attributes, from feeling when sitting in the driver's position, comfort of use, to feeling excited when wanting to accelerate the car.

What's interesting is that today's EV user group is no longer just an Early Adopter group or a tech enthusiast like it was in the early days, but is beginning to expand into more casual car users.

As usual, as the user base widens, satisfaction scores may tend to decrease, because ordinary users may not be as ready to accept the limitations of new technologies as the Early Adopter Group.

But this survey showed that even those who had switched to EV for the first time found many of their favorite things on the electric train.

EV is already used. There is a higher chance of buying another EV - the data is consistent with another study that found that, once consumers switch to an EV, there is a relatively higher tendency to choose another EV to buy the next one.

InsideEVs lifted the CDK study, which found that 90% of EV owners had plans to buy EVs again, while 73% stated that their own families would likely always have at least one EV car.

This is another interesting corner of the electric car market, because the challenge of EVs may not be to make "used people" accept technology much, but to make "people who have not yet used" decide to switch to EVs for the first time.

Because at that point, a series of polls are reflecting a similar picture that most people who have actually used EVs are quite satisfied with the experience, and a small number do not want to go back to the oil car. 😍😍
