Getting sick is never fun, right? It can really throw a wrench in your plans and make you feel completely drained. Over the years, I've developed a personal wellness routine that truly helps me bounce back faster and feel more like myself again. It's all about being extra kind and intentional with your body when it's working hard to heal. These are some of my tried-and-true practices that go beyond just waiting it out, helping me achieve quicker recovery. My first go-to is always lots of warm, nourishing bone broth. It's not just comforting; it's packed with vitamins, minerals, and electrolytes that your body desperately needs when you're feeling depleted. It’s also incredibly easy on the stomach, which is key when your appetite might be low. I like to sip on it throughout the day, feeling that warmth spread through me. If bone broth isn't your thing, warm herbal teas like ginger, peppermint, or chamomile are fantastic alternatives. They contribute to rest and hydration recovery, soothing your throat and helping you feel more relaxed. When I'm sick, rest and extra sleep become my top priority. I genuinely believe your body does its best healing when you're deeply asleep. This means creating a sanctuary for resting in bed sick recovery. I make sure my bedroom is dark, quiet, and cool, and I always have my softest, most comforting resting with blanket sick nearby. There’s something incredibly soothing about being wrapped up tight. And honestly, doggie cuddles are the best medicine for the soul! My pup seems to know exactly when I need that extra bit of comfort, curling up beside me and making the sleeping sick recovery rest feel even more peaceful. It's not just physical rest; it's emotional comfort too. To give my body an extra edge, I always reach for supplements to support my immune system. While I always advocate for listening to your body and consulting with a healthcare professional, in my personal wellness journey, I’ve found certain things helpful. Common ones like Vitamin C, Vitamin D, and Zinc are often recommended for their immune-boosting properties. Some people also find specific remedies, such as colloidal silver (as seen in certain wellness circles), to be part of their routine. The goal is to provide your body with the building blocks it needs to fight off whatever's making you unwell. It can be tough to eat when you're sick, but consuming nourishing meals to fuel my body is non-negotiable for me. Think easy-to-digest foods that still pack a nutritional punch. Beyond the classic chicken noodle soup, I love gentle options like steamed vegetables, plain rice, or even fruit smoothies. The key is to avoid anything too heavy or greasy that might upset your stomach further. Keeping your energy up with good food, even small portions, really helps with quickly recover efforts. Finally, once I’m on the mend of things, not when I’m still running a fever, I love to do a sauna to sweat out toxins and hydrate tons! It feels amazing to literally sweat out the remnants of whatever bug I had. Of course, hydration recovery is absolutely critical here. I bring a large water bottle into the sauna with me and drink plenty before, during, and after. Electrolyte-rich drinks are also great to replenish what you’ve lost. Always listen to your body and don’t push yourself too hard, especially if you're still feeling frail. And throughout all of this, I try to be extra patient with myself. I know that if I try and 'rush' the sickness, pushing myself when I should be resting, it will only prolong my healing time. Being gentle and allowing my body the time it needs is perhaps the most important 'thing' I do. It's a holistic approach to getting back to feeling 100%.

The sauna part is so smart I do everything else you said (to the best of my abilities) but never the sauna and I wanna do that now 😂
