Design: The running posture of the pronghorn is abstracted into flowing bronze lines. The body is hollowed out to reveal fragments of prairie poetry (verses by Walt Whitman). Its two horns extend into the shape of wind turbine blades, and its four hooves step on the skeleton of a rattlesnake.
Craftsmanship: The lines are cast using the lost-wax method. The hollowed-out characters are laser-etched. The blades and the skeleton are micro-cast and welded.
Finishing: Oxidized to a sandy yellow patina to simulate the prairie soil. The verses are filled with white enamel, and the skeleton is electroplated with silver-gray.
Scene Fit: Offices of environmental protection agencies, prairie ecology-themed spaces. It explores the symbiosis between nature and energy.
