Would you hike 6 miles for this cave?
We visited one of the most beautiful caves in Sedona and it was absolutely magical.
📍Subway Cave via Boynton Canyon Trail
🥾6 miles roundtrip - you start at the parking lot for Boynton Canyon Trail. The trail can actually be a little tricky so map it out before you go. Our friend @where.is.ajax had it locked into GPS on his watch which was genius.
🪨The trail itself is pretty easy until you get to the actual cave. You do have to climb into the cave and it can be challenging.
📜 Once you explore Subway Cave, come out and go to your right to head up another climb to see the Sinatra Ruins.
⏰Sedona trails can get busy, but we went during the week at 1:00 p.m. and encountered a handful of people coming back on the trail and only a few at the actual cave. It didn’t feel “busy” at all.
💰You can use your National Parks Pass or there is a $5 fee to park
Hiking to Subway Cave is an experience like no other, offering stunning views and a sense of adventure that many seek. Sedona, known for its breathtaking landscapes, draws hikers from all over. The Subway Cave itself is a hidden gem, challenging yet rewarding for those willing to embark on the journey. If you're in the area, consider planning your visit early in the day to beat the crowds, allowing you to enjoy the serene surroundings. With a relatively easy trail leading up to the cave, climbers should be prepared for some tricky parts, especially when entering the cave. That added excitement makes it all worthwhile, as the magnificent formations inside are truly captivating.
