the schedule i keep: cleaning edition
this is a cleaning schedule that’s perfect for me. a woman who LOVES clean but is also living in 2024 as a mother and worker and lover with all the diagnosis my childhood never solved.
it feels like something i’ve fought for and if you can get ideas or smooth out your own schedule with any tips from mine, hell yes!
the best part here is if i don’t get to my chores, it will get done next week/tomorrow/my partner knows where to manage
falling behind will happen, it’s okay.
knowing what’s coming and scheduled has given me calm
☀️🌗DAILY: •laundry •tidy •clean assigned room •check weeks deep cleaning focus
my husband and i keep a morning, afternoon and evening cleaning routine. this is nice, he has his usual things and i have mine.
however, if our schedules change or something is skipped, we know what to try and help the other accomplish
there is no guessing and things get done.
⏱️👀WEEKLY: each room in my house is cleaned sundays and on its scheduled day. tidied up the rest of the week.
this also includes days we bathe the dogs and clean pet cages and tanks, clean the cars and the specific thing each room might need
⌚️📆MONTHLY: these are the “bigger” things like windows, walls, fans, under the stove/washer&dryer, freshening the mattresses, checking cupboards organization.
things we like done often but not needed weekly.
each week, i add monthly tasks into my daily to-do’s
❄️🌷⛱️🍂SEASONAL: this is usually when we look to see if we would benefit from hiring help. it’s about every three months we need to check in and see how far behind we are. should i hire help or take the weekend to catch up?!
includes outdoors care and home maintenance. scheduling the pressure washer, spraying for bugs, update deck, clean/seal outside toys, put up or fix anything
(when we look more into managing children, garden and house over all, a lot of those tasks fall into my seasonal planning)
🗓️🕡6️⃣SIX MONTH MARK: each october and april, we steam clean the carpets and couches. wash or throw out rugs. (again, when we look more into managing children, garden and house over all, a lot of those tasks fall into my six month planning mark)
scheduling helps develop our budgets and look forward to life. feeling prepared where i can and preparing to plan where i can’t. it’s nice😌
