Furniture Flipping Before and After

Watch as I take you behind the scenes of flipping furniture before and after transformations that prove you don’t need brand-new pieces to have a stunning home. With a little creativity, I’ll show you how to redo furniture into stylish, functional pieces that look like they came straight out of a designer showroom. From unique thrifting finds in thrift store aisles to forgotten dressers and nightstands, every flip tells a story of giving old furniture new life. These projects are perfect if you’re looking for affordable ways to upgrade your space or if you want to start reselling for profit. I’ll also share my favorite DIY upgrades for old furniture—from painting techniques to hardware swaps—that instantly elevate the look and durability of every piece. Whether you’re here for inspiration, money-making ideas, or just love a good transformation, you’ll love seeing these furniture flips come to life! #furnitureflipping #furnituremakeover #upcycle #thrift #makeover

... Read moreFurniture flipping is an inspiring way to breathe new life into old, overlooked furniture while also contributing to sustainable living. By upcycling thrifted or discarded dressers, nightstands, and tables, you can transform them into beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces that fit any interior style—from rustic farmhouse to modern chic. Key to a successful makeover is combining thoughtful design with practical improvements such as sanding, priming, and protective finishes that increase durability and longevity. Effective furniture flipping also involves selecting the right paint types and techniques. Chalk paint, milk paint, and spray paint are popular choices, each offering unique finishes—matte, distressed, or smooth glossy—that help customize the look. Updating hardware like knobs and handles, plus adding decorative touches such as stencils or upholstery, can instantly elevate a piece’s appearance. Beyond aesthetic upgrades, furniture flipping can be a profitable venture. Resellers often source undervalued finds from thrift stores or garage sales, invest time and creativity into renovations, and sell the upgraded pieces at a markup online or locally. This side hustle not only promotes creativity but can generate income while reducing furniture waste. The journey from "before" to "after" captures remarkable transformations that prove no piece is too worn or outdated to be revived. Whether for personal home décor improvements or entrepreneurial purposes, furniture flipping encourages resourcefulness, artistic expression, and environmental responsibility. Embracing this craft helps you create functional art that stands out, making your living space uniquely yours.

A person wearing a respirator and red gloves uses an orbital sander on a wooden table, demonstrating sandpaper grit uses. Text overlays list grits: 60-80 for paint removal, 100-150 for stripping wood, 180 before staining, 220 for scuff sanding, and 400 between paint coats.
What Sandpaper Grit To Use: Furniture Flipping Tip
Every piece is different, but this is a good starting point! The lower the grit, the rougher the sandpaper texture. It’s also helpful to note that when you’re moving between grits (if you’ve removed previous finish and now want the wood to be smooth) you will need to work your way up to a highe

Use bondo to fill any gouges or dings in your furniture flips. You can fill and sand in about 15 minutes and it cuts way down on time waiting for wood filler to dry. #furnitureflippingtips #flippingfurnuture #furnituretransformation #furnituremakeover

Furniture painting 101
This is step-by-step what I do whenever I refinish a piece of furniture. The painting actually is the shortest part of the process. The prep work with sanding filling holes and priming, actually takes up the most time. A good paint sprayer can definitely help cut down on your painting time as w

Furniture flipping tip
Don’t skip the polyurethane top coat on your furniture flips! This will add durability and protect your paint from scuffs, dings, scratches, and water marks. I prefer to use min wax polyurethane in a satin finish. It’s for enough sheen it wipes clean easily but isn’t too shiny. #furnituret

A lot of people think that in order to paint furniture you have to completely sand off the old finish. Fortunately, that’s not the case! All you need to do is rough up the surface enough for your paint to stick to it. Go over the whole piece with 120 grit sandpaper and you will be good to go!
