... Read moreTraveling to a bustling city like Tokyo with a baby and toddler can seem daunting, especially when you only have 48 hours to explore. But let me tell you, it's absolutely doable and incredibly rewarding! We recently took our little ones to Japan, and our initial days in Tokyo were an unforgettable adventure. One of the first things we focused on after a surprisingly long travel day was comfortable accommodation. We decided to stay at the WorldHotels Dai Ichi Hotel, conveniently located right next to the vibrant Ginza area. Honestly, checking into this luxurious 5-star hotel was a lifesaver. Our guest room was perfect for our family, offering quality amenities that made our stay much smoother. Having on-site dining was incredibly practical, especially with hungry toddlers and a baby – it meant less hassle trying to find food after a busy day. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it for families! With our limited time, we carefully picked activities that would truly engage our young children. Our first big hit was the new TeamLab Borderless. This interactive digital art museum is a dream for kids (and adults!). You can literally spend hours here, getting lost in all the different rooms and interacting with the art. Our toddler was mesmerized, and even the baby enjoyed the changing lights and sounds. It's sensory heaven and a fantastic way to let them explore freely. Another absolute must-do for us was DisneySea. There are no other DisneySea parks in the entire world, making it a truly unique experience. While it's a big park, it's surprisingly manageable with little ones if you plan ahead. We focused on the gentler rides and the fantastic shows, and the atmosphere itself was enchanting. Don't worry about missing out on thrill rides; seeing the magic through their eyes is a thrill in itself! Finally, we also made time for the breathtaking Shibuya Sky experience. Getting to see Tokyo from such a height was incredible. We even got lucky enough to spot Mount Fuji in the distance on a clear day! It offers a fantastic perspective of the city, and the open-air deck is stimulating for curious minds, even if they're too young to fully grasp the cityscape. Beyond these highlights, Tokyo offers so much more for families. While we didn't get to everything, we considered options like family-friendly Animal Cafes (always check age restrictions!), the interactive Kidzania, or a serene visit to Sensoji Temple (best to go early for fewer crowds and easier stroller navigation). Even just exploring street markets offered a fun cultural immersion for us all. For anyone planning a similar trip, a few extra tips: Getting Around: Tokyo's public transport is excellent, but navigating with a stroller can be tricky during peak hours. Taxis are an option, but can add up. Consider a lightweight, travel-friendly stroller. Food: Convenience stores like 7-Eleven and FamilyMart are your best friends! They offer a huge variety of snacks, drinks, and even simple meals suitable for kids. Many restaurants are accommodating, but having backup snacks is always wise. Diapers & Supplies: You can find baby supplies easily, but sizes might differ. If you have specific brands you prefer, bring enough for the 48 hours. Pacing: Don't try to squeeze too much in. Kids thrive on routine, so build in rest times and be flexible with your itinerary. Sometimes just playing at a local park is exactly what they need. Jet Lag: This can be tough. Try to adjust to local time as quickly as possible, exposing yourselves to sunlight during the day and keeping the room dark at night. Our 48 hours flew by, and while we only scratched the surface, it was an incredibly rich experience. Our next stop was Osaka, and the adventure continued!
