... Read moreFair Value Gap (FVG) is a crucial concept in trading that helps traders identify potential price retracement zones and continuation points within market trends. Essentially, an FVG represents a liquidity void or price range where few, if any, orders exist, creating an imbalance in supply and demand. This gap often occurs after a sharp move, leaving behind an unfilled area on the price chart. Trading using Fair Value Gaps involves looking for these gaps formed after a retracement in price, often indicated by specific candle sequences such as small candles followed by an imbalance and then a larger retracement candle. Traders typically draw rectangles around these price ranges to visually mark the FVG zones. When the price retraces to this zone, it often signals that the market is likely to continue in the original trend direction rather than reverse. In bullish markets, traders seek bullish FVGs where the retracement zones signal a buying opportunity. Conversely, in bearish markets, bearish FVGs indicate potential selling pressure. Understanding these gaps within the broader context of market structure—such as support and resistance levels and order flow—strengthens a trader’s ability to anticipate price movements. Using smaller timeframes to check for breaks in market structure around FVG zones can provide additional confirmation. The reaction candles appearing after retracements often act as confirmation candles, showing that market movers are placing their orders and possibly changing the market direction. As a beginner trader, it’s important to study these concepts slowly and practice by taking notes and reviewing materials multiple times. Incorporating Fair Value Gap analysis into your trading strategy can improve your ability to time entries and exits more effectively. Remember, the goal is to capture trend continuation rather than reversals using FVGs, and patience is key while mastering this technique.
